A reference would be nice. Which book, which issue, which page.
Another quality, non aquatic-related post from mrs budak!

Aeon said Aeon wanted to say that but Aeon haven't. Wow, you read Aeon's mind. :P

Jokes aside... Aeon really forgot which book/mag/page but Aeon remember there was an issue on plants that propogate by runners if trimmed regularly will encourage side shoots to grow.

If you really want proof, too bad.

Thank you for acknowledging mrs budak's superiority over yourself.

Now that you have clarified what is meant by "training glosso to climb," the discussion can go back onto its course.

Do we all agree that information may not be accurate in news and media? English version of Amano's are translated and therefore, there may be misinterpretation or misuse of words here and there.

If one understands the plant, it would be fairly simple to reason this out. If the environment is unsuitable, a plant will find it ways to the better. Which explains why some plants will grow facing towards the sunny spot and why trees in the jungle grow taller and taller competing for sunlight.

Glossostigma is a 'carpet' plant under sunlight, both emerse and submerse. It grows upwards in most of our aquarium due to insufficient light comparing to the sunlight. The recommended ways of the so called 'training' by is actually limiting certain factors and thus, forcing the plants to grow in another pattern.

We hope all members can discuss topics without resorting to unnecessary anger or harsh tones. Some views on planting and fish-keeping methods may be different, but let us all learn from each other instead of attacking others' ideas. Please start new threads (on a better note) if you wish to discuss any topics mentioned here

    Re:

Humans and animals have different characteristics although they do share similar traits as well. All these don't mean that fryslayer should be using his theory of "associated experience" on the discus to curb his "ungentlemanly behaviour" because that's the territorial nature of the fish. By saying "The world will one day be destroyed by those who think they are so human and non-animal.", I take it to mean that you agree with fryslayer's "disciplining" method because you are merging human and non-human behaviour together. If you even need the fish to tell you this, then you must be devoid of basic logic. By abusing humans' superior status in a certain sense, to discipline" the discus is forcing conformity. If that isn't, I don't what else qualifies. And if you think it over, your Glosso analogy is totally out of sync.....

Lorba, if what you are implying, that information contained in other sources like text books, scientific papers etc are definitely accurate while those found in news and media are often riddled with errors, then I have to disagree. Inaccuracies occur everywhere. Heck, even the Bible has errors

haha, may i remind the aptly-named timebomb to reconsider his "inflammatory" remarks, which cast doubt on all in the profession of spinning, be it from the gutter or from God. :P

Nope, K L. Sometimes even sch text books print wrongly. What I was trying to say, the direct interpretation of japanese to english may result in a sentence that is funny and doesnt make sense. Vice versa.

May I now add : "all media"?

I'm afraid I have to disagree again. When it is translated from Japanese to English, it isn't just funny and nonsensical, it becomes completely incomprehensible I can never understand their instruction manuals.
