cloudy water is common sign in a new tank during cycling. however the cause might be your white gravel too. get some reliable test kits and test your water parameters.
you can check out my thread in marketplace as you may need some equipments.

Oh my! Just checked my tank is very high in ammonia!! Is there any off the shelf solution to help with this??
Thanks
mosura BT-9 is a safe product to speed up cycling process. helps to get rid of ammonia etc
Hi. For LFS specializing in shrimps, I would recommend CRS HAven. They are the only known Shrimp boutique in Singapore. Location is at Tampines.
Also, you may want to know that while the white gravel is suitable for aquarium use, it may not be desirable for use with shrimps. For example, coral chips is good for aquariums also but NOT ALL shrimps can take them. Like wise for ADA substrate. I would encourage more read ups to avoid un-necessary pain and loses. I know because I just lost a batch of 200 sakuras...
Take time to cycle your tank properly and enjoy the wait by investing your time into reading and nothing else but reading only the right thing. Also ask the more established shrimpers here and share experiences/knowledge so that many more can benefit from your journey.
Finally, you may want to document down your journey here for all to learn?
Thanks.
i have some floating plants for you free if you need. when the ammonia is broken down, your nitrates will increase. floating plants can help to absorb nitrates
I would recommend Greenchapter too. Although they are not a specialised shrimp boutique, there is a pretty knowledgeable pony-tailed uncle there that I am pretty sure won't do things such as selling you CRS claiming that they do not need chillers because they are low grade.
yay just checked my tank ammonia and nitrate level and its PH is now neutral, its now time t get some SHRIMPS!!!! YAY!
I recommend you get your gH check too. Shrimp friendly soil but neutral ph aren't a good sign. But it will be suitable for you to keep fire reds, not crs
Yes agree with Bro huizhong even if you are keeping low grade having neutral ph will only make the colour of the low grade look more off.
I would recommend at least check the initiate GH if you going for fire red, sakura etc.
If you going to mix Crs than good luck you will probably be buying more to add in couple of months later.
Ya i would recommend checking out with the pony tail uncle too. He is also good in DIY if advise is needed. i wouldn't go commenting on their other shop that when you tell them you look see look see (face go black) if you ask ignorant question their smile damn wide (CHOPPER time)
Have fun shopping.
I don't understand something... haha. What is the brand of your HOB filter? The ones I've bought all came with the sponge included!
