Hi, thanks for your compliment. Did not know that glosso requires low temperature as well, which is why I picked glosso over HC initially. But it seems like they are creeping just fine:

Camera did not focus properly before I took the shot, but you can tell that the glosso is spreading.

Re: Mini table tank - 3 gallons

    Hi spid,

I bought those rocks from Y618, I am unsure of what rocks they are.

For oxygen generation, I just let the HOF fall into the water, creating water surface agitation. I have been reading around for a really long while before I decided to try on low grade bee shrimps. As I have seen C328 place their low grade CRS inside a pail and sell, that was why I thought I could rear them without needing to bring down the temperature.

Anyways the next day after these CBS died, I place some cherry shrimps inside to test out the water parameters. After a week or so, there was no problem with them. So I took them out and placed in some sakura:

These Sakura did not live very long either, they started to die 1 by 1, very lifeless and twitched a lot before they lay motionless. Managed to save the rest by transferring them into another tank, so only had 2 casualties.

Anyhow, the plants are doing fine, so what's left is adjusting water parameters to suit the fauna in future.

Hmm the rocks shouldnt be a problem. I also used these rocks before.

By the way... Your puffer fish still in the tank? Wouldn't it scare and attack your sakuras?

It's always good to have test kits. Alot of water parameters can't be judge or seen thru the naked eye, test results will show you answers to your problem.
A must have if you are a serious and committed aqua hobbyist is pH pen or meter, ammonia and nitrate test kits. If keeping shrimps additional kh/gh test kits are necessary too.

I see. You used those rocks in a shrimp set up too?

Yep! The puffer inside cause got a lot of baby snails running about still. its rather friendly in fact. Doesn't bother the shrimp as much as my tetras in other tanks.

I have ph pen, tds meter, gh/kh/ammonia/nitrite test kits. Only didn't get nitrate and oxygen test kits.

Thats great. So do you do your testings regularly? Spot any problem with the reading or test results?

Nothing were off the charts. I usually check water conditions before adding in new fauna and after water change. So roughly I've been doing twice water parameter checks weekly for the last few weeks.

Yep. I'm in camp now so I'll check it and post it when I get back. Water parameters shouldn't change much since I haven't done a wc after taking them out, only remember ammonia and nitrite were zero. Didn't pen down the readings when I put in the sakura but you can find the readings when I place in the CBS in my earlier posts.

Re: Mini table tank - 3 gallons

Hi zenith. Here's my water parameter just taken:

    PH 6.7
    TDS 287
    Temp 28.9
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    GH 5-6

Is there anything wrong? Tds and gh a bit higher due to evaporation I think. My tanks evaporate quite a bit even without a tank fan.

Re: Mini table tank - 3 gallons

I think temperature abit on the high side for shrimps. The rest of the results seems ok to me.
Try to lower temperature to 27 and add an air pump with air stone to aerate the water. Shrimps survive better in high oxygenated and chill water.
Lowering the temperature is also good for plants, as most plants prefer cool water than warm.

Cherry and Sakura shrimps water ph is around 6.2-6.8 range.
CRS and CBS is around ph 6-6.4.
    KH/GH should be around 4-8.
    TDS range 150-200ppm.
Lastly NO3 and NH4 should be zero.

Re: Mini table tank - 3 gallons

@zenith thanks for your advice and sharing with me. I have the biggest dymax vortex fan but need top up 1.5 litre of water every 2-3 days. will try to look for a smaller fan to lower my tank temperature.
Are those parameters what you keep yours in? Isn't 8 gh a little too high?

@gid thank you! I'm using the aquazonic double bright led. In my opinion led is more specific and customisable for people to suit their plants needs or visual aspect. Different led ratings and colours will correspond to different range of spectrum in light. so I find that getting the right balance will allow you to grow the plants still.

    Cheers.

Re: Mini table tank - 3 gallons

    Hi all

Just some updates on the tank, a FTS to start.

I have removed my Anubias Nana and stem plant. Nana was being attacked by blackspot algae while my stem plant was growing too fast that I need trimming every week. I have also added a DIY CO2 in as well after forgetting to dose excel daily. The glossos pearl at the start, but now it seems to have stopped pearling. Anyhow they need trimming already, tallest is about 4CM height.

Took out my media inside my HOF and used it as a refugium to grow money plant:

Only 2-3 stalks have melted so far, the rest seems to be doing fine.

    Enjoy
    Cheers

Hi Jay. The plants took bout 4 weeks to carpet my tank. But it's a small tank and I planted rather dense to begin. So yep.

    Cheers.
