When in doubt, just wash once to see. Since the sand keeps rubbing against itself, sure to have some very fine particles. At least that's my theory to why gravel gets dirty.

Yes agree with you on that point. Did a wash today and sure enough it was dirty.
Glad to hear I could help. How many times did you wash?
Twice it was clean after that.
Ah not so bad then. I'm going to use play Sand from a gardening shop soon. Gearing myself mentally for 10+ times of cleaning.
I'd always wash my sand in boiling water & siphon away the detritus that gets stirred up.
But gex sand react differently to washing. The gex sand cluster up even after drying for sudo sand it go back powderish when dried. But i prefer gex sand looks really good against a black substrate.
is that the whitish sand you got from GEX? may i know where you got it from? thanks
i used Sudo bottom sand without washing. water cloudy for a day only. how's the GEX?

From clementi auntie's shop near the entrance. It is at the entrance where they always put their substrate, in 2kg packaging.
Was quite worried it will be dull but under white light it was bright. But at the expense of being dirty easily. Another thing is that if you are doing sand and soil partition I find it is better then sudo. Just spray water on both side and they won't mix easily for sudo i tried but failed the sand was too fine.
For washing wise i washed twice.
I'm having problems with ADA and Sudo too. They keep getting mixed up even though I use hardscape as dividers.
Thanks for the info. Will check out c328
Cheers,
