Hey guys! Want to share my tank with all..

Old 5gal tank and 2ft stand from neighbour
    36cm T5 aquazonic lighting
    Dolphin hang on filter 250L/hr
    Gravel substrate
Anubias nana, straight leave java fern, java moss all tied on wood
    8x mosquito fish: 1x male 7x females
    3x otocinculus

Not exactly a planted tank in the true sense since all the flora is tied to wood

Might replace the mosquito fish with something more beautiful after the tank has stabilised. Any suggestions?

Thanks for encouragement! Hmm don't think got space once the java moss matures I'm thinking it might occupy the foreground..
Haha had some bad experience with shrimps last time as I'm not in the habit of doing water tests or changes :/ but if I do decide on shrimps, I will get the hardier and fecund cherries to contrast the greeness of the set up haha.. Thanks for the suggestion though mukyo!

Re: My 5-6 gal "planted" tank

Seachem Flourish Excel™ is a source of bioavailable organic carbon. All plants require a source of carbon. This is typically obtained from CO2, but, may also be derived from simple organic compounds (such as photosynthetic intermediates). The use of either CO2 injection or Flourish Excel™ does not necessarily negate the use of the other. Because the processes of producing photosynthetic intermediates and building onto them occur simultaneously, one can derive a substantial benefit with the use of Flourish Excel™ either alone or in conjunction with CO2 . The combination is particularly ideal for situations when continuing to add CO2 could result in dangerously low pH levels. Flourish Excel™ also has iron reducing properties which promote the ferrous state of iron (Fe+2), which is more easily utilized by plants than ferric iron (Fe+3).
Got this from seachem web hope this will help
