    Hi,

I had this Luwidja Bevipes, the type green at the bottom and yellow and red at the top. Each time I trim the top and replant them they always melt. Then I tried cutting the new shoots from the parent stem instead and replant them, still melt. Is that the case, anyone had experience to share and how to propagate them?

    Ken

    hi ken,

propagate via cuttings, you cutting the young shoots which easily melt.
    Try cut from main plant.

i do have the exact plant covering 40% or more in a 2 feet tank. I started cutting the main plant in half and replant.
    Hope this helps.

    Regards
    Felix

Bro, thank you for your advice. I had tried cutting into half and replant, still melt. Roots don't seem to grow to support inputs.

Perhaps you didnt plant it deep enough? Or u crushed the stem when pushing it into the substrate? I know the stems can be quite weak.

I have the same plant too, and they can propagate quite easily. Just keep trying!

I tried different locations with low, mid and high lights, still melt.

    Bro,

Please see the attached picture. Let me know your thought. By the way if these are not Luwidja Bevipes, please let me know as I bought them as it.

    Luwidja Bevipes propagation

They look abit like, but strangely your ones don't seem to have any copper or red tint like mine.

They look quite fine to me actually.

I assume your using the usual stuff? Ada/gex substrate , liquid ferts (eg seachem range)?

Oh I just want to note that when I kept them indoors. The growth quite slow, always seemed like they lack light and less red/copper tone.
I still have some in a breeder box from last week's trimmings. You need a picture?

They will turn red/copper at the top when they received the most light.
My substrate is project soil and I am using currently Seachem trace and excel.
Find this plant very sensitive, sometimes the parent plants melt after I do some trimming.
