I am thinking of adding 1-2 really small electric blue ram (size of 5 cent coin) into my 2 feet planted tank with shrimps (yamato, sakura, orange).

    1. will the shrimps be able to hide from the rams given that it's densely planted and the rams are really small?
    2. How fast do rams grow up?
    3. Are rams really crazy about eating shrimps?
    4. Has anyone kept rams with shrimps together?

Please share your ideas... I am so so tempted to get one of these fiery blue beautiful rams, but not ready to give up on my shrimps (yet)...

    shrimps and rams

    Keep at some risk.
Fish will eat what can fit (or rather nibble and squeeze) into their mouth.

The plants do help but the game of cat and mouse still pose some risk.

If a fire red dies and you feel the pinch badly, I'll advise not to do so.

    Re: shrimps and rams

Rams will ACTIVELY HUNT your shrimps, even when they are young. You'll quickly find that ALL your shrimps will always be in hiding and even then, the Rams will still pick off those they can catch.
If the shrimps are too big to be swallowed, the ram will chew them into pieces and swallow separately. I've witnessed it personally when I first start out keeping them. Bad mistake. Don't, just don't do it

Nav: I've seen my neons eat cherries before. Rams are much larger, likely can 1 shot grab hold of a firered.

Dont risk it lol. If you intend to keep shrimps, let it be a shrimpie tank only.

The guppies and the tetras will be very (too) friendly with the shrimplets. They are ok with adults but unless you have lots of hiding place in your tank the shrimplets will not survive this "love".
Why not buy an other tank?
You could move the shrimp there and the blue rams to this tank.
