I think you should check with people like SOXAL who can advice or test the cylinder if neccessary.
IMO, safety should be the first concern.

hi bros..
recently i got a hold on an empty 3L cylinder for free.
thinking of making it my spare CO2 cylinder.
upon closer inspection i realised that its for O2(oxygen).its a silver coated cylinder. even the gauge have O2 lable in it.
can i do anything with it?
my question is can it be filled with CO2 if i bring it to bioplast?
has anyone tried it before?
cheers

not advisable.
find out the pressure of o2 gas. co2 gas pressure is about 1000psi, depending on temperature.
anyway, i doubt the fitting on the cylinder can fit other co2 related equipment.

No do not use O2 cyclinder for CO2 the density is different.
The safety valve might not be able to hold the pressure.
SOXAL will reject and good LFS should reject it as well.

alrite den bros...
thanks for the input.. i wont be changing it to CO2 cylinder due to risky consequences.. i think i'll just donate it to the hospital...
thank you..

I have checked with an industrial gas supplier.
The answer was "Yes".
O2 cylinder can be converted to a CO2 cylinder. The operating pressure of CO2 cylinder is similar to that of the O2 cylinder. Basically, the cylinders are the same. If the valves are the same, all you need to do is just to get gas companies like SOXAL to test it for safety sake.

Unless safety value is tested and approved if not pls do not use it.

thank you so much bros..
really appreciate your advice and help. even to the extend of asking the experts..
i'll try to go to soxal to check my tank..![]()
this indeed a great news..
got an extra tank!!
thanks again!
i'll update u guys on the progress!!

just give then a call to see if the conversion is possible and if they are willing to test the converted tank.
check if the o2 fitting on the cylinder is similar to co2 fitting. most likely not.

The fault was not with the tank but the lack of external valves (check valves?). :P
I'm back!
