Yes, u need a co2 cylinder for it.
To add on to milk comment, it also depend on your light type like T5,T8 and so on
different florescence have penetration level.
It's depend your par level actually, which are relevant to reflector quality, bulb amount, height level, etc.
Watt per gallon is not really accurate, but it's the most easy way measurement. Just keep an eye if algae start populating your tank, light drives everything.

Good Wednesday guy.
the lights are 4 x 39w Dymax T5
theres a question where internet cannot be found,
i plant a tank, i filled it up with water, i cycle the tank with plant without fish, and if i do not have co2 injection = can this work??

yes, depend on the plant what plant to you have? if you planning without CO2, better half your light just turn ON 2x39W tube or less.

unfortunately, the 4 tubes are connected in series, cannot off. haha
anyway i really appreciate all the assistance here, page 3 liao still haven't plant. hahaha
over cautious sure slow things down sometimes.

only single switch? that odd, normally come with 2 switches. You can try take out the tube instead.

yes that odd only single switch..Are you sure? confirm?
Just like shadow suggested no c02 just used 2 t5 tube.
My previous tank i had 2 light sets with 4 tube each on a 3 2 2 tank
so that is a total of 8 tubes.....
Recipe for algae!!!!![]()

Very confirm, its only 90 dollar... so maybe that explains why lor.
but the lucky thing is seems like I didn't buy anything underpowered.
I like to rephrase my question left unanswered:
if I plant my tank and then start the tank fishless cycling for about 03-04 weeks; where will the plants get their co2 if I don't have co2 injector?![]()

Give it a week less. Then put danio or nice pleco inside. They are die hard.
Then continue cycling as per planned.

"... thanks will always be given for helping me..."

from atmosphere, plant also generate CO2 at night, this is where light intensity important. To intense and plant grow will stunt due to lack of CO2

Hello, gong xi fa cai

Looking good!! When are you planning to flood the tank?

Nice set up.
Where did you get your driftwood?

hi guys,
i not sure bout the price, my bro-in-law picked it up for me at fishybusiness/roger.
havent pay him money!@!

guys,
my tank (without plant yet) started growing white fuzzy thing.
well, I know it will go away when the tank is properly cycled / or after planted.
but it is now spreading to my soil, will it cause any damage?
thanks !
Have you filled the tank with water yet? If not, then it sounds like mold.
If the tank is already filled with water, then its probably fungus growth from the wood pieces. Usually most people will boil the wood for a few hours to get rid of it beforehand, but even then sometimes it still grows during the initial period.
You can manually remove it, or just let it die off on its own... some fishes or shrimp eat it too.
The mold should be alright. I would suggest that you manually remove the mold/fungus. You can just scrape it off with a penknife or sharp object.

Hi guys, day 27 of my tank... been shifting the plants around, change here change there.
HC melted, now switch to hair grass... macam no movement from these grass too.
anyway, my aquazonic t5 x 4 got one down liao.. (bloody 2 months niah)
remaining are 3 x 39watt.. got co2 inject, tank height between 1.5 to 2 feet.
enough light ma?
my stem plants is turning yellow after pruning leh...... =(
3 tubes should be relatively fair enough to grow plants.
Even i was doing with 2 tubes to grow glosso, now move to 4 tubes, but now it's dimmable. So it doesn't count double.

What is that sitting on top on the driftwood?
And what plant is that right at the centre of the tank beside the driftwood?
