Confirming NA selling ADA Amazonia for $36/9L bought 3 bags for my 3ft a few weeks back.

hi bro,
where is NA?
next question is a external filter.
I have read various different opinion, even from the ADA amano something like flowrate of 6litres per minute.
some say flow time 10x , one even overkill by 15x.
so what do you guys say? anything 100$ brand in the market? Eheim/ fluval is like a big investment for a beginner like me. Jebao? Jebo? any suggestion?
I did my home work but theres too many opinions out there.![]()

NA -> http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ium-(Nature-NA)
I'm using Eheim 2217 for my 3ft tank. So far so good, no noise / leaks whatsoever. Eheim is big investment but goes a long way.

I visited eheim website. so many of them, got Classic, got pro 1 2 3 , but nothing about eheim 2217.
I am going for 5 time flow rate, any objection?

Eheim 2217 is also known as Eheim Classic 600

Sorry guys, just visited the 'equipment and accessories' forum and found out there are alot of information over there.
this is what I will do - 3 ft tank + eheim 2217 + HL-100a , good?
now that i read chiller thread, i realise my cupboard ventilation totally cannot make it... how? better go cut before i pour in my soil.....

what's HL-100a?
I don't use cupboards.. hence not able to advise much on it.

Paiseh, HC-100a

IMO its better to plan what kind of flora you intend to use, know their characteristics and needs before deciding on a chiller. Nonetheless, its still a plus to have if your budget allows.![]()

Guys,
I have been thinking, I might be jumping into the hobby too excitedly because of seeing the beautiful art you guys had achieved after years of experience.
and to be frank, my funds are low because im doing distant study and some institute in London is eating my wallet.
I have decided to do a low tech planted tank with nice fishes. I will try with very easy beginner plants first.
-no chiller
-no co2
Im buying Jebao 304 for filter (havent check if it comes with media....)
I need re-advise if i should still stick to ADA Aquasoil for beginner plant.
I need advise on lightings. how many tubes of t5?
well thats about it, untill i have understand the commitments required for maintaining a planted tank.
I thank all bros giving all the advise and resassure your efforts are not wasted.
Sam
Yes, you should stick with ADA soil.

Hi sam, personally,i think you should buy co2 cylinder since you are doing planted tank.
Even though its a low tech planted tank, buy it if you can afford it.Anyway i saw someone post
in the market place selling 2nd hand co2 cylinder, very reasonable.
I am still using my cylinder that i bought 12years ago.Think about it.
Oh and about the filter canister, ehiem is still the best.

thanks guys for the advise.
I just brought home a Jebao 304, now very excited to test it.
how come the whole thing so greasy, do i need to clean it away? i understand theres rubber seal at the most bottom tray, but the canister itself is greasy
got a mixed understanding, read somewhere in the internet ppl saying its harmless to the fishes.
thanks!
The grease should be safe for the plants and fauna, even my eheim was full of grease out of the box

hey sam, don't forget to post your planted tank picture once ready.

Waiting for the update![]()

Merry Christmas bro.
I just bought my lighting.. its a 4 x 39w fluorescent
so emm, the maths, 156watt / 50 gallon = 3.12 wpg.
its consider in the middle range isn't it? too much for beginners plant? low tech?
after more readings, I think without proper co2 injection system, my lights will be making algae.
