Keeping some of these in a 1.5 ft tank. Can confirm the size will grow to max of 3 inches?

My biggest male is 8 cm. They are fine with other (similar sized) fishes, but don't introduce small / young cardinals ( or danios) into the tank as the killies could eat them.

    Re: Golden panchax....

The golden panchax can grow to about 4 to 5 inches and can live for almost 4 yrs unlike some annual killies.
Please cover the top, even you have some lillies plant there but they still jump out.
And best not to mix difference panchax in a tank, they will kill each other (my golden panchax killed 4 of my blue panchax).
I noticed there are two varietion for Golden or Yellow Panchax - one with a long stomach fin and the other type is a short one (these two species fight too).

I think many species on Earth now are evolving.
The snakehead I used to breed doesn't have so many colours but now they are like rainbow in them.
Some of the fishes having the transparent fins are also evolved with more colours.
I think something strange is going on right on or probably is what they said - when the fishes adapted to a new environment or new weather, they will change their shape and colour and sizes too.

Thanks for the advise. Looks like these fellas are not choosy eaters and easy to breed. May fit well for me to use for culling unwanted betta fries.

    Re: Golden panchax....

This morning i caught a male and a heavily gravid female spawned onto a mop of sunken riccias.
Last week i placed the riccias in a riccia holder that can be bought in seaview. Looks like the golden panchax knows how to make use of it today.
And am quite surprise they are still small, hardly an inch long and already matured, so, i wonder this fish will grow much bigger?
The male too has darken a little on the face, interesting change of color.
Now i wish my cardinal will spawn too! LOL!

    Beloved akillifan,

The golden panchax will grow to a length of 3 to 4 inches (I correct my comment up there).
And the colours of the male will become very brilliance yellow, you will love them.
If you had been to Seaview (you mentioned above), then you should had seen the fully glown adults in one of their display tank (not for sales).
I was fortunate yesterday to stumble upon another species of panchax at OTF, a fish farm at Pasir Ris Farmway 3.

Good luck and best blessing to you and your beautiful fish.

    Re: Golden panchax....

A brief update. Yesterday morning decided to retrieve the riccia container to check on eggs and found both containers have eggs in them. Total harvest yielded around 15 eggs.

Put them in a 2 liter tank and tonight i checked and found 4 fries, some hiding among the duckweeds.

Question to the seniors here, do i start bbs on 3rd day onwards? I already some bbs hatched 3 days ago.
