Co2 tabs are useless , dont waste your money anymore
Hi all.
Been trying co2 tabs.
Oceanfree brand.
I notice that when dissolved it has this residual white thing like uneaten food. Or snow
Is ot normal? Or i am not supposed to just drop the tab like that.
Is it safe for shrimp like that?
Thanks all

Snow? Never tried co2 tab as didn't find it logical and inconsistent.
Buying used co2 system on 2 bps count backward seems cheaper.

Used them on my cherries a year back. Didn't seem to do them any harm (but they are cherries). May have to be careful of your water quality though. Its salt and baking soda so enough of those tabs may change your pH/salinity significantly.
Hmmm... never knew they contain that.
Will just put once a week then. Or when i remember.

For CO2 to have any use, it must be provided to the plants regularly during light hours. If you only dose on and off, it may only promote algae growth.
Honestly, for planted shrimp tanks, the main issue is temperature more often than CO2. If your tank is 28 degrees C or higher, don't bother with the CO2 as they'll not help the plants at all.
CO2 tabs are even worse, as they do not provide a consistent CO2 supply to the plants and will work only on the smallest of tank and with a hardworking owner. My advice is, focus on either shrimps or plants, not both. When you have alot of experience with both, maybe then you can attempt a planted shrimp tank.
Of course, you should still keep some hardy and simple plants and mosses with the shrimps, but don't think too much about having fancy scape or rare plants.
Yep yep...
Keeping only the most hardy plants and shrimp.
So far my moss is growing this tauge like probes.
They seemed happy. Grass also annoyingly grow tall.
Hopefully ok.
