You might want to do WC more this week.

Been having malayan bees around the neighbourhood... Closed all my windows this past week and thought it's finally cleared after town council people says they cleared a hive on the roof top.
Opened the windows finally and just had two bees flew in.. Shucks.. As I have two kids at home, without second thoughts, took out the insecticide and sprayed at them buggers.
Managed to knock them out but immediately remember my tank in the living room!
Quickly used the plastic wrap for food and wrapped the top of the tank leaving a small gap at the back ... Hopefully my shrimps will survive.. Hiaz...

Add activated carbon in...
For me it was a wasp.
I did not spray at the tank, but at the direction of the tank. about 3m away.
Next morning, 8 out of the 12 red cherries died.
Baygon. very effective shrimp killer.

Been doing 10% water change daily but still lost a bunch of shrimps one yamato and probably around 10 malayan/sakura shrimps... Might have more in area that I can't see..
Fishes are ok though.. sigh...and the frustrating thing is that the bees are still coming nightly...

how you spray? i got those wasps everyday flying at noontime near my unit.
bro we seem to have common things hehe... learn from mistake... at least 5-10m away from tank, if possible get those with a pipe attached to nozzle. more pin point so the deadly stuff don't fly aroundIt rested on the tank edge, i sprayed at it due to FURY. Thanks, suffer 90% death rate

Felix, it was definitely more than 5m away... sprayed near the main door while tank is all the way inside the living room. But i can smell the insecticide everywhere so confirmed the fine particles have made their way throughout the living room.
Just found more dead shrimps.. sigh.. i think gone case already... carbon sachets also put inside Eheim this morning...
Depressing...
The Yamato had grown sooooo much since i had it... so wasted...

Do WC then use activated carbon. It will lessen the effect.
No choice la. Hope for the best.

Similar experience. But with bed bugs.
Lost all my yamatos and mommy daddy snails.
Also some fishes, small pleco and sae.
The rest of plecos survived. Was abit woozy before.
I do big water change almost everyday.
Now seems ok. Need to repopulate.

Regarding the old sea mud, what brand to get? Just sprinkle into the water or need to slowly drop them into the bottom?
Observed this morning that the Sakuras are "sun bathing" on the surface again... not a good sign huh? Fingers crossed..
Can't take too much of these shocks..![]()

Mukyo, my god.... Hope bedbugs no more its a serious issue to have them. :-(
Cyber, and you need live stock? I'm going to decommissioning both indoor tanks soon. You can have half my live stock.. If need just sms me okie?
Btw, and think old sea mud I always see them shrimp keepers buy mosura brand. Wait for nava to reply, might be handy to keep a bottle if you have bees issues around your zone.

Tank seems stable and i can tell from colors of my pleco.
So lets just try.

Anyone knows where might the residue of those bug poison resides?
If lots of water changes wad done already.
Do they resides in gravel?

I think my tank condition have finally stabilized.
From my experience, Malayan shrimps highly susceptible to insecticide.. although I did lose one Yamato and probably some Sakura. I derived at this finding as I'd just did a massive trimming and my shrimps are all "sun-bathing" on the surface again, so it's easy to "stock-take". I put in 10 Sakura shrimps a while ago and as of yesterday, I counted 7 adults and a bunch of babies(just under 1cm). Significant was the decrease in the Malayan ones... they are still there, but the numbers dropped by more than half easily. Yamato was easy to count as well, as they bunched together near the filter inlet.
Felix, thanks for the offer of livestock, but I think I'm ok for now... appreciate your offer! The platys are taking over the tank, I think it's already overcrowded, will try to catch some of the juveniles out else it will be a problem very soon. I think there's at least 10-15 of them now, around 1-1.5cm big... and that's excluding a batch of 6 which I had removed into a smaller plastic tank.
Curious, did you spray high up into the air? If so, i am guessing the wind must be blowing in the direction of your tank. Just like to share that I spray baygon almost on a daily basis under my bed and all over the dark corners of my bedroom to kill mosquitos, with fish tanks are in my room. So far all livestocks are doing okay, keeping sulawesi shrimps/fishes. I do dose mosura old sea mud into the tanks, not sure if that's the safety net haha.
I have all my windows netted with mosquito curtain. During this wet season, flies tend to leave their disturbed nest and draw themselves to other people's home when they see lights. Having net curtain also help to prevent other uninvited "guests" like bees, moths or flying cockroaches. You can sleep easy with all these simple protection without needing a bygone which is not good for your health.
