Wonder why it is leaking...Anyone have any idea...I would really like to get this filter to run to supplement my existing filtration system for my 4x2x2.

Looks like the O-Ring or some pressure thingie..since the whole filter seems to be leaking from where the impeller joins the filter....where the clips are...

Sounds like the most common issue after the filter has been used for a few years... its a simple changing of the large o-ring that you can buy from c328 or other shops easily.

should be the o-rings problem.is the leaking from the clips, i.e the four corners?if yes its the big o-ring around the filter head, if not it maybe the small o-rings around the tray pipe holes.

Is design fault, square filter usually got this problem, usually at the edges. Round filter got lesser problem. Thats why Eheim classic is still the most reliable one.

This is my 2nd 2028...anyway, I guess it must be the 0-ring. It is leaking all around...damm it! Oops...

Gotta go those replaced and hopefully be able to add back to my 4x2x2 soon

Here's an emergency stop gap measure.
You can place toothpick pieces where the clips connect to the top cover.
This will tighten the connection and hopefully stop the leak.
Do replace the O ring soon though.

Take out the O-ring, use plumber tape to go around it. I've tried that on my leaking 2028 & have been using it for 2 years without any leakage.

Luckily you are around. Till date my room is still in a mess, got to throw away 2 wooden cabinets & one more yet to remove. Guess it's almost everything out of the door after it happens.

Flooded for about 3-4 days. It was madness.

    Cheers!

Hey, all things have wear and tear issue...For me, it's ehiem or nothing...unless you have ADA filters.. To me, Eheim filters are the most reliable.

Yes Ehiem are excellent filters! I can't imagine if i've got the other brands. Might be even worst.

Pro II are known to have o-ring issues and leak.
Ecco known to have handle breaking issue.
The pro series and the classics clips tend to break off.

Just came back from Qian Hu to service 3 of my 2026. I suspect it's the red o-ring in the pump assembly head of the canister filter. I've changed both the large o-ring as well as the 2 smaller o-ring on the detachable valve but it still leaked at where the wire connects to the pump assembly head. Was told they would take a few days to service all 3 of my 2026 and test them to ensure no leak occur. Since my 2026 is more than 5 years old, there were also a few items which need to be changed.

I hope this exercise doesn't broke the bank........

Hi guys....glad to report that my leaky issue is a thing of the past now. Went to NA to get a new O-Ring and everything works like magic..no more leak.

Bad news, out of the 3 x 2026, 1 was cracked or found to have a crack in the motor assembly area where the wire appear. I will be heading to QianHu tomorrow to see the extent of the damage. Have to mull over whether to purchase a new 2026 motor assembly cover or get a 2nd hand set.

    Sorry to hear that.

Pardon my ignorance, does Qian Hu repair Eheim filter? I have one 2028 that just stopped working abruptly a couple months ago and I didn't have time to find the cause. It is now taking up space in the store room. May bring it to QH for a repair quote.

The 3rd 2026 was left to the QianHu staff to try to salvage. The remaining 2 after being told was not leaking during their testing is still leaking..... Time is not on my side now, will await next week.
