Hi All.. i got myself a OF Nano Space tank recently.. however, I jus couldn't get the water level at the filtration system right.. The water level at the pump partition is alwasy the same as the other partitions.

But looking at this setup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYQdEIM5BeU , the water lvl at the pump partition is lower. I wonder how he did it.

    Can someone advise, pls? Thanks.

P/S: I have tried many methods and none seems to work.

I have 2 of the Nano Space 34litre versions and have been using them for a month... so far for both, during normal operation the water level at the pump section is usually level with the rest of the tank water (or maybe just slightly lower, especially when the pump is at high setting).

What i've noticed is if i pack the filter sections with additional sponges and media (there is some extra empty spaces below the filter system), the water flow will slow down noticeably and i can see the water level in the pump section start to become lower too, so i think that could explain the very low water level in that video... most likely either the aquarium shop staff added alot of extra sponges and media into it, or its been running for a long time without being cleaned and its all clogged up so the flow to the pump section ends up heavily restricted.

Hi coolant.. thanks for the response. My thought is, the "pump-well fill hole" situated at the bottom (the extra space) of the partition between the pump and middle sections is causing the water to flow through from the bottom rather then the top. You have given my an idea.. i will throw in some media into the "extra space" to reduce the amount of water and flow rate through the holes.

I guessed the guy in the video could have seal up the holes or slow down the flow rate.

I guess the 2 fill holes at the bottom are designed to prevent the pump section from draining all the way to empty, so its a sort of safety feature.... you'll have to adjust and watch how much effect the flow restriction with extra sponges and media have over time, 'cos if the pump somehow pump out more water than it is refilled, then the water level there will gradually drop all the way down until empty then the pump will be running dry and burn out.

yup.. exactly.. the holes are for pump protection.. however, if the tank water were to drop below the inlet level, the water in the sump will be drained out eventually..

since u are encountering to same thing as me.. i will jus leave it like that for now until i thought of some ways to improvise it .. Thanks dude..
