Hi,
there has been a thing for LED lights recently.. I wonder if anyone has adopted them for tanks. I understand that certain ones with IP68 std can be submerged in water. Also, will LED lights be strong and sufficient for plants? Please share on idea or experiences.

Also, as my tank will be placed near the windows, I intend to install solar film on the windows to keep the heat out. THey go for $3-$12 per square foot. Wonder if anyone has experience with this too. Beside fan & chiller (which I don't intend to pursue), any other ways to bring the temperature down?

some other questions for my 2013 Q1 4-foot tank project.
1. will be better to have a tank with lid or rim than one that is just glass on the top?
2. what are the new things I can try/look forward to, to move from 2->4ft tank? I don't intend to keep big fishes, since they don't normally tolerate smaller fishes and shrimps. e.g. schooling fishes?
3. Are there new concepts that I can try? e.g. sand water-fall in the tank.
4. HOw about layering in the tank? beside iwagumi & normal planted tank, what other styles are there?
5. ANy innovative ways to keep incompatible species in the same 4-ft tank? eg. betta & guppies & rams & shrimps?
6. I am struggling between 4,5,6 feet options. Are accessories much easier to buy (lights/light stand, filters) for standard 4 feets
7. thinking of buying standard 4ft, 8mm glass cheap tanks, would you discourage or say that it's unsafe or risky with too thin a glass?
