Ranger ac/dc nice and quiet at least for now ....
I bought a small airpump recently by Gex. Cheap and good and looks well made.
I see... I have been using gex 300/500/700 for a while and its not so bad. But not very durable... IMO.
Then i tried a few others which are actually worse.
So trying to ask opinions from members here.

Ocean Free Beetle. Quiet and still running strong after 1 year
I'm using the Beetle 18000 model and its very noisy. Looking to change either to an Eheim or Sera? Which one's is a better choice or is there another brand that is a cheaper and good alternative?
I've been using a Hailea one. Single output, adjustable pressure and it sits on 4 rubber legs. So there's no vibrations or motor sounds.
My nick is lizhien. But i'm not a girl. It's Li Zhi En. =) You can call me Cole too.
Hi Zhi En,
how long have you been using the Hailea one? I had one as well, in a couple of months, it started making humming noises although still working. I decided to keep it as a standby as it was driving me nuts.
Since then, have gotten a GEX and Ocean Free ones.. all small ones. The GEX had a little noise initially but went away after running for a few days. The Oceanfree one was silent from the time i powered the pump on. HOwever, both still too new to give a verdict on durability.

I have used quite a number of airpump as they are usually pretty quickly.
-Gex (2outlets) for prob 5 months before it produced large noises and vibrating violently.
-Hailea 2 outlets, both the 1 adjusting knob and 2 adjusting knobs models, used for around 6 months before the output became weak or vibrating crazily.
-Dymax 2 outlets, only used for around a month and 1 output is gone! Starting to produce loud noise and vibrating every now and then already.
Eheim 100, used for a few weeks, probably too short a time to tell for now but so far so good. I like the build of it as well, so for now I would say eheim!
Interested to know what other good alternatives bros here are using that I might get to replace the cranky dymax.![]()

Best Pump: My Hiblow 40
Smaller Pumps
1) Dymax (two outputs) - I used to have 5 of these. It seems there are two colours at the output, 4 of mine are black while one is white. Silent but one failed. The one that failed is the white one. Output not working after 1 month usage.
2) Big Boy 8000 - Had 4 of these. All working except for the one which my friend gave me. It became loud. No time to figure out why.

any suggestion for a 2ft tank?
Eheim is my personal favorite for the time being. Silent but over time the output is reduced. I just checked my own Eheim 3704 (Pump 400) and the felt pads in the suction side are clogged up badly. It is silent however and very efficient.
For a 2ft tank the Eheim 100 aka 3701 is sufficient if you are not intending to use air powered filtration. If you need a bigger pump then the 200 aka 3702 is good enough. Any cheap air pump will be good as well but I guess for long term, the Eheim is best. Often, the typical cheap air pump fails because the rubber diaphragm within is broken after prolonged use. Without a replacement, you cannot repair it easily.
