    Re: My Koi updates

Nice and big Kois.... but are they too big or the tank look narrow ??
How they swim and how often you need to change water ??
    Just curious asking only....

    Re: My Koi updates

the biggest koi is 22 inches, other kois are at least 18 inch. they have enough space to swim and thrive, not to worry. i change water every 4 days or when the electronic ph display 5.0 or less.

i have a huge sump underneath pack with 10kg of biohomme plus, 10 kg of eheim substrat pro, a 38W UV Chamber, a drawer style tray for a 500g ofJBL cotton wool, 1 eheim classic 1500XL, 1 Eheim 2080 Pro 3, both eheim running only biomech

Running the flow from the sump to the main tank is 2 Eheim universal 1264 running at a combine 9000L/hr flowrate.

For cooling, we use a vornado fan on top and a 1HP hailea chiller on standby

Very impressive setup you got there... sump + canister + dual pump + chiller....
How long you keeping the Koi since and how long does it takes to grow that big ?
Mine is like a feet now... already worry whether when they grow bigger, will they pose a threat to my tank... (breaking the tank...)

    Re: My Koi updates

I have ben keeping Koi for more than 10 years. i used to take care of my grandma pond when i was a teenager. lol

Koi grow very fast if you feed them well, i use sakari-hikari color and balance plus i feed them silkworm pupae 4 times a week when they are growing

they will usually not outgrow their environment and definitely wont crack the tank like monsterfishes but a good guide would be at least a 4 x 2 ft tank for 2-3 koi

For fengshui purposes, always have a all black koi admist all the colourful ones

And i got my night LED switch on until morning... so hope nothing crazy happens....
