Hi all shrimps lover, have been a long time since my last post.

Recently i change my soil to ADA amazonile. i do not have any ph meter to read the ph reading. Reason of change is that my crs not prl is surviving but shrimplets don't survive. i top up or change the water weekly through tap water,

After i change the soil my crs shrimps start to get berried and are active. i got a few PRL and panda.
after that i got a ph meter (Ph-999)

    My tank Parameters,

    Ph: 5.4
    gh:6
    kh: 0 or 1
    TDS: 160
    Temp 25-26
this tank have been running for 1 year plus
curretly i change 4 liter of water using age water put in a 10 liter container with shizhen treated. i tested the ph lvl after 1 week it show ph 7, so i put in a few super peats from sera, now the ph reading is 6.7.
i use drip method to change water now.

    Question:
while i was changing the 4 liter water the ph when up to 5.7. (Dripping method around 3 hrs) after that ph goes down to 5.4 again. Is it ok to keep them in this ph range as i notice their colour is not that nice but they are not stress out.

How to increase the ph, can i use the age water to increas the ph?
Increse by how much each time as not to shock the shrimp?

    Thanks for the sharing. cheers
Enjoying every mins of the process. Happy Shrimping.

Hi bro.. I have kept my PRLs in PH levels at low as 4.46 before... although colors are not in their optimum showing, but why bring up PH if nothing is wrong?

I would suggest you to maintain as it is and let the PH rise naturally after your weekly water change...

The best way of settling your problem is to keep away your PH test kits and switch off your PH meter... If shrimps are doing ok, why bother to tweak the parameters? Unless there are some problems, then you go and measure.. isnt it better that way?

    Happy shrimping

Just to share. I once have ph low problem.

After advise from Y618 uncle, he said that my kh is low that is why my ph is low.

He advise me to up my kh over a few days till the ph is stable.

I took up his advise, now my ph is stable at 6.0.

Just bought the kh up powder.

Add in half spoonful and monitor the ph till the next day.

If ph drop again, add the same amount. Over a few days, you ph will rise.

Once stable your ph, only dose once a week to maintain.

Hi Ken, thanks for the recommendation. I have thought of this before but after some search I find quite risky. I intend to use carbonate soda, the only worried I have is that the ph keep on going up and down which it don't stabilize and stress the shrimps too much and my shrimps will start swimming in the sky...

I understand that my side tap water Ph is around 7.3-7.5 range. Like what Alvin have said is more safe in this natura way. Cheers
