I suppose they are called colour shrimps, they are alage eaters like yamatos and eed nose shrimp
Your hair grass seems like going to rot soon.
I restarted my tank, due to seems to be polluted with fungous spores before.
Bought a new amazonia and just rearranging the space so that i have more open view, Planning to feed them in the playground area in front.
Details:
- ada amazonia 1kg
- dymax fan x2
- LED aquazonic
- air stone bubbles x2
- Small dophin HOT filter, filled with CR and a bit of coral chips and small foam
- Undergravel filter
But... as you can see, shrimps are nowhere to be seen in the playground area.
Instead they cramped themselves behind the right tree stacking and killing each other like udang pasar![]()
so hard to remove and check if anyone dead
Why Why Why...?
what am i supposed to setup actually? please teach me.
The so called "green" shrimp
They changed color.
This is what happened with those that is staying in the driftwood.
for those that are staying in fissidens, they become blue
those that are staying in bogwood become dark chocs almost black.
these are not malayan shrimp right?
Can anyone confirm? size is similar to Cherries
Thanks in advance![]()

Right now i only looking for happy shrimp, tried my best to make it happen.
I dont think would ever kept anything that requires chiller.

looks like malayan to me too...
Based on your requirement, you should be able to keep shrimps like yamato, malayan, neocaridina heteropoda (cherry, sakura, yellow shrimp series)
they love aeration... don't worry..![]()

Ok...
Been taking suggestions.
I put an empty shell as a bowl in the playground and feed them tiny sticks of shrimp pellets twice a day.
Not bad... they like it and easy to clean.
Hopefully they settled down.
Thanks all.
Will take pics if see any interesting colors come out

Hi, firstly I would not suggestion 2 dymax fan as fan cool the surface area thus u b topping up water often...
U shld monitor the room temp and if its cool enough like 26dc u are fine... Any reason for 2 airstone? If not 1 would b fine... My suggestion is to have a sponge filter, it have to filter n there are air bubble...
Lastly is your plants low maintance ? Some plans require a certain level of co2 if not they unable to survive well...
My 2 cent of thoughts...

Noted on the fan.
Maybe i will try to move my digital thermo to this tank.
See if any effect on two fans.
I dont use sponge. But i use undergravel. Covering all my tank bottom surface.
As for two stones, actually becauae i have extra gang valve outlet only and i paranoid of shrimp not enough o2 hahaha

Sponge filter have quite alot of benefit and its cheap... N since u have 2 valvezzz2ndly, media are there for a reason... Ceramic ring I feel its ok as bb can grow on it... But coral chip, I suggest u remove it... Cause it increase ur ph level... It's better to set up right then to change along the way... Your plants I think u shld take note...

Thanks bro for the input. Just to confirm few things
1. I thought undergravel have more surface than sponge, as all the gravel is the media, no?
2. The coral chip was meant to buffer the ph against amazonia, and to provide minerals to support molting regen.
I notice few shrimp die after molting so i try to fix with chps, besides low ph is not so good for shrimp.
Is this valid? Actually i am kind of trying here.
Not very sure on the amount and if the chips will dissolve or anything.
3. Any idea how to improve my plant?
They are anubias, some moss, hairgrass, another big grass,
And unknown plants on the leftwhich grows very fast

1. you don't normally do undergravel in planted tank, the plants root will block and you have no way of cleaning it.
2. Tank with ADA Amazonia, the pH will stabilize to around 6.2 once your tank fully cycle. which is around 4 weeks without any additive. Furthermore, ammonia is less toxic in low pH.
Owwhhh... i hope it doesnt do harm to the plants
I see...
I'll monitor ph then remove the chips then. Lucky i put in the accessible container pary of the hot filter.
Many thanks sir.

Sponge filter is good for shrimp tank as it is able to house bb... U have to measure your ph to know what media to house... Coral chip will increase the ph... Thus u dun wan it to increase for nothing...
