Hi All,
Do you think I should raise the area around rocks 1, 2, 3 and 8? To further magnify the focal point of the Iwagumi layout?
Do you I should add in more smaller rocks?
Hi all,
Just started on my 3ft X 1.5ft X 1.5ft Iwagumi aquascape.
Layout of the rocks as attached. Please give your comments. I have numbered the rocks for easier referencing.
Using ADA power sand special and ADA aqua soil
Plants to be used are Staurogyne Repens as the carpeting plants, Echinodorus tenellus and Hydrocotyle tripartita. Plants used are actually inspired by James Findley of the green machine when he was doing up his "Reciprocity" aquascape

No expert here but.
I think 7 is too big. And
Soil is too flat. Can rise following 1:3 golden rule. Depends whether you want both side or just one.
Preferably on the right side higher.
Btw where do you get these stones? Gc?

Thanks and noted for the comments.
Actually the substrate is raised as shown below in the attached photo but probably due to the angle the photo was taken, the slopes and hills are not visible. But I am also considering to raise the area where 1, 2, 3 and 8 are to further define the focal point of the layout.
I got my rocks from Tropical Fish International at Pasir Ris Farmway.
I am setting up a similar tank as well.. currently in planting stage. What plans do you have for plants?
Yup. Probavly Not suitable angle.
Should take head on.
Btw i suggest also from front should be thinner and gradually inclined to the back.
Then after this you level up some more on left- right part.

I have kind of done some changes to the layout. Not so much the positioning of the rocks but the contours of the substrate. Have raised the right side which is the main focal point, hopefully the contours can is more visible this time round.
Please do keep the comments coming. Thanks alot.
A little adjustment to the positioning of the rocks.
Last one is good

Hi all,
Tank fully set up with a little rescaping done as well.
CO2 currently at about 2bps.
Day 7: 50% Water Change, Plants growing quite well especially the Echinodorus Tenellus.
NO3 (Nitrate): 20ppm (mg/L)
NO2 (Nitrite): 0ppm (mg/L)
pH: 6.0
KH (Carbonate Hardness):40ppm (mg/L),
GH (General Hardness): 120ppm (mg/L)
- tested with API 5-in-1 Aquarium Test Strips
CO2: approx. 1bps
Water temperature: 25-26 degs
Bro. How did you take clean tank photo?
I always got reflection. Still there even with polarizer.

Day 40
Plants are beginning to melt. Added a chiller, tank running at temperatures betweens 24-25 degs
Added some Cardinal Tetras, Rummynose Tetras, Glowlight Tetras, Platys and Otos as well.
melt might not always be caused by temperature.
boost your co2 gradually, 1 bps is too low especially if you have dense plants.
Mine is 4-5 bps (3 ft), but sometime i feel i need more, i stock 1 more full cylinder stock just in case it runs low.
My fishes are not feeling exhausted on that level, plants are pearling and produce lots of o2 for the fish.
