    Hi Bro

I am trying to keep glosso in my 1ft (30x30x30cm) tank. They are growing upward instead of spreading. Currently I am using PL 24 W lamp.

I believe the growth pattern is due to insufficient light. Hence I plan to add 2x9w t5 lamp.

Does additional of 2x8w T5 tube give me the effective brightness (24 + 1 like 40w lamp?Of course I might not need to on both. How many wpg will be enough for gloss to grow well?

    Thank you

Re: Question on Additional of light

I'm using the same tank as you. Are your glosso putting out new runners? Any co2?
I read too much co2 will cause glosso to grow leggy instead.

Did you plant the glosso deep into the substrate so only the top of the leaves are exposed?
For lighting, I'm using 1 set of 4 led lumen aqua and 1 set of 6 led green element led. 3 watt per LED. So far glosso growing ok and putting out new runners. Light period is 7pm to 7am, 1bbs co2, no chiller. Using ada amazonia substrate.

1 Watt per liter is more than enough, subject to they're having enough co2.

keep trim regularly (1-2 shoots), after > 5x trim session hopefully it'll start grow horizontally =)

Trim is easy, patience is not.

    Hi

Yes I planted deep till only 2 leaves exposed.

I have seen some runners but the main plant that I planted still growing upward. Consistently trimming though. I just planted like 3 days ago. Currently is on 1 unit of 24W PL and 2X8W T5.

I will try reducing co2, currently on 1.5bps but I am running internal overflow filter though. Surface splashes are kept at minimum. There are some pearling on the glosso.

How far should I trim it? Only kept the bottom 2 leaves?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Question on Additional of light

Yes around that short, there's no best practice on this.
It may grow differently from one tank to the other tank. But i always cut it as short as i can for the couple initial rounds.
Sometime by mistake i cut all the leaves, anyway it will grow again lol
