Try for the last 48hrs to get my SAE

I have 2 in my partially-dense planted 4ft tank. I tried useing a 1l bottle cut the bottom to trap it when it's in. Caught one while the other doesn't even swim near it. A few times it reached the opening then swim away. Is there any better methods you bros out there tried before?? Let me know. Thks.

off all lights for an hour, then on them and catch the sae before it adjusts itself to the light

another way which is a bit drastic is to pump in a lot of co2.. then ur sae will be a bit drowsy and float, then u can scoop them easily.

For the co2 method i think it risky as ! have a lot of fishes that are more vunerable inside.

leave yr net in yr tank... wait until at night the the SAE is asleep slowly move the net n scoop it slowly.... have to be steady as not to disturb n wake it from its sleep.

Another possible method in a densely planted tank is to use the plants to encage the fish. I tried this on my neon tetra in a tank filled with hornwort and other stem plants. When it swam and hid in the dense plant growth, I slowly pushed the hornwort surrounding the fish until it was flat against the tank wall. Once that was done, there was the nifty bizness of trying to transfer the fish into a net without it escaping through gaps in the plant wall.

Hi Plantz,
Don't bother catching SAE the conventional way. You will end up destroying your nicely scaped tank !

Try the trap method I told you. Put a few pleco vege tablets into a PET bottle and submerge it in your tank. Once the SAE is in the bottle, take the bottle together with the fishes out of the tank.

I removed a few SAEs and Pleco from my planted tank this way.

Plantz, use a different bottle. Don't use the same bottle.

Starve them a bit and they will sure go in.

The winner is CRANDF.

It only took less than a minute. Off all the lights including living rooms for half an hour than on the fish lights. All my fish have faded colour and the SAE looked stun, swam slowly and clumsily. Gan your method worked for the 1st one only, this one is smarter(bigger too).

Will guys thanks for your help. Now to see if my mosses manage to grow finally.

this is a GOOD idea... i am gonna try on those platies in my tank.
hopefully they don't get awake easily. Pardon, not against this type of fish, just want to make the tanks more homogeneous.
