Feel free to comment. Plan to introduce shrimp and neon tetra later. Any other algae eater to recommend?

nice layout there. Just a note though, the java fern should not have its rhizome buried into the substrate or the plant will rot away in your tank.

Hey diazman, thanks for the info. Didn't know that. That's why most of the time it's tie to wood?

the plant on right hand side, green color with white color edge, is not aquatic. It wont be able to grow under water.

Seaview do sell plants that can use in vivarium/paludiaum types as well.

They have poor root system, tying them to wood/rock/mesh/sponge and watch them take off like a boss

    Re: My first planted tank

My tank is running 27-28degree. Thinking of adding one more fan.

Any other background plant to recommend? Wan to cover my green pipe.

    Re: My first planted tank

No need to add another fan. One is sufficient. Adding more fan does not reduce the temperature further - it only increases the evaporation rate of your tank, making you do more water top ups.

Thanks diazman for the advise. Think i shall change to a more powerful one.

I notice a thin layer of oil-like thing on the surface of my tank. Anybody got any idea what is it? How to remove it?

Surface agitation will help remove the thin layer
