Hi ladies & gentlemen! I need some advice on how to tie riccia with moss. Cause I've thought of making it into a carpet form. Which I have no clue about it, at all!
    Thanks in advance~

To make a carpet, you can just tie riccia with fishing line onto stainless steel meshes, riccia side facing up. Then just lay the meshes side by side; the riccia will carpet the whole mesh really, really fast.

Another way would be to lay the riccia on a flat surface, such as a rock, then secure the riccia with coarse netting (mosquito net, plant net, etc). The riccia will grow out of the mesh and create a lush carpet.

A tip when growing riccia submerged: riccia grows best in lower temperatures, so try to keep the water cool with a fan.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks bro! Did something like what you have mention above. Though I would really love to upload some pictures to show on this thread. But I do not know how to get it done. Still quite new to this forum.

Indeed it is very helpful. But I've tied the riccia onto a plastic mesh already. But it won't sink down to the bottom. Just floating in mid water. So what I did was I sandwich 2 plastic mesh with riccia in between. There's where it sink down. But with a slightly stronger water current it will shift. Anyway to like weight is down? Placing rocks over the mesh would make the whole layout rather hideous. I'm totally out of my wits already.

How about cutting the mesh so that it fits snuggly on the bottom of the tank, so that there's no room for it to move about.

By the way, where did you buy your plastic mesh?

Plastic mesh you can get from any hardware shop or daiso. Think I'm going to change it to a metal mesh. but how much would it cost? Roughly~

I've asking a few hardware shops in Hougang if they sell plastic mesh or netting, and they all gave me a blur look like they do not know that such a thing exist. What is the correct term to ask them?

Most LFS sell metal meshes for $1 per mesh. NA sells meshes that are 20-30% larger, and cost $.20 more.

Bro,take note to buy stainless steel mesh and not metal mesh(which will rust)...if you tell the shop keeper you want metal mesh, they will sell you "metal mesh" ...

I got the powder type aqua soil a while back from Y618 at Yishun, not sure if they still have stock but you can call them to check.

I went to various hardware shops today looking for stainless wire mesh. None of them sells it. Any idea where else I could get those? Went to visit NA also, but the meshes they are selling is rather small about a dollar per piece.

It's cheap I think. Because I don't remember at all how much hahaha. Usually remember stuffs only when they are expensive.
I think depends on height of the roll. Mine is 4feet tall. Just suggestion. Black is better. Green after put in water not nice. Specially when your moss wall attempt failed and they are dying haha darned...

if you are using plastic mesh, you need to find a way to secure it because when the riccia start pearling, your mesh will start to float.
