Your setup same as mine. My soil full of diatoms and GSA in glass. I added yamato, oto and nerites. 2 days later, all cleared. Only problem is this crew kept uprooting my hc. I had to remove them. Once removed, within 3 days, algae come back.
I'm not exactly fancying shrimps or snails species.
Was actually thinking SAEs or Oto Catfish.
Yamato shrimps are more efficient algae eaters. You will learn to like them.




Had Sae but didn't really help much in algae control, for my case, they grew big and ate mostly fish food

Otto and yamato,
these are the ones that i prefer.
Cherry shrimp will eat algae as well, and will give contrast too


I had ottos, sae, yamatoes and cherries and none seemed to work. Periodic water change and lighting conds may be more useful in limiting algae growth
