    Hello fellow hobbists~

Would like to share my new cory scape. (Sorry for the bad photo quality)

I am currently using the sponge filter as a weight to hold down a piece of drift wood hehe..

Any comments or advice on how i can go about improving the layout will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

personally for me, i will take away the stem plants. i find that they are distractio to the scape. instead you can find more similar drift wood to stack up to give more density. Also i will plant some crypts to give a good contrast to the scape. i like the nana plant contrast and its presence but just thinking perhaps can shift it elsewhere. because i feel its placed too high up. instead get some floating plants to dampen the light. it'll make the cories shine out more i believed. just my opinions . cheers for the good wood selection!

How about hiding your air pump filter behind the woods? It is a big distraction to the front view...

Hi teowxu, thanks for the advice. I had initially planned to place the stem plants at the back to act like a backdrop of some sorts, i was actually looking for some low demanding plants to keep as this will be a low-tech setup. Think i will take up your advice and get some crypts instead then, also do you have any suggestions where i should place the nana plant instead?

Hi Merviso, i am only using it now to act as a weight for one of the driftwood. I will shift it to the back once the wood is waterlogged

    Re: Cory scape

hi for me i will directly place it behind its current location(directly behind the wood). by hiding it at the back i'll reveal some of its leaves only and not the whole plant. because it'll add depth, density and a more mysterious feel to the scape. i believe the wood should be the main attraction. right now the current nana location kind of distract me a bit from the wood. also let the crypts naturally fill up gaps and spaces between the wood. it'll feel more natural. and thats the beauty of nature i believe the scape will resemble malaysia rainforest.

    Re: Cory scape

Personally, i would place the stem plant to the back right and left corner of the tank.
The nana i will put in somewhere on the left or right at the middle of the tank.
And i think that plant in the center at the back of the tank is amazon sword right?
Using the rule of thumb divide your tank into three section in your mind...
place the amazon somewhere in the first section, right at the end of the right side but not going into the 2nd section or somewhere in the 3rd section,
right at the end of the left side but not going into the 2nd section. I hope i am not confusing you...
To put it in a simpler term i will place the Bacopa on the right back side of the tank, the seaweed on the left back side of the tank,
the nanas somewhere on the right or left side in front of the Bacopa or seaweed and the amazon just like i mention above.....

    Hi Bro,
So your basically saying the tall plants should be put to the sides, and the nanas in the middle. Did i get that right ?

    better than your 1st post...
try to group your stem plants by species, do not separate them.

    Re: Cory scape

Use the right back corner as base. Move the center piece of wood (the darker brown one) such that the fork points to the front glass. The other end stays at the back.

As zero said, move all the stem plants together to the right back to form a cluster.

One this is done, move the nana to the sand area below the wood. They do better in slight shade.

If you can some moss, tie some around the 2 pieces of wood. Tie them at 1/3 and 2/3 of the branch length. Read up on this golden ratio

My 2 cents. Hope this helps.

What moss would you recommend to tie? Can Xmas moss work?

been a long time posting. My 2 cents:
    1. Slope the sand 10 degrees to the back.
    2. Stick the wood out of the water in a loose cluster. I feel it is overwhelming the scape.
    3. Nanas around the base of the sticks.
    4. Stem plants in the backdrop, try some ludwigia.
    5. 2 or 3 small rocks among the nanas.

Hi Jungle-mania, thanks for your input but im just wondering what did you mean by point 2. Stick the wood out of the water in a loose cluster
Do you feel it shouldn't be running across the tank but instead placed upwards?

Something like this, this is not my work, but it is close to what I mean. Yes, I feel it should going upwards, it gives more space for the cories to swim around.

    Re: Cory scape

Oh i see what you are getting at, so your saying the drift woods should be stuck into the soil then.

hmm... that's sounds viable, should they be in random positions or pointing at the same direction?
