what 4ft lighting fixture do you use ?

i was thinking of getting a 4ft fixture .

SOLITE type 4. I think its depending on your depth of tank right? I might be wrong. If i have another set up, i would like to try LED

Generally 4 ft tank also have deeper depths, etc 2 ft, you might wish to check if the light is able to penetrate such depths for the carpeting effect, if you wish to have that.

yours is a planted tank ? my tank will be 2 ft dept 120gallon. will it be sufficient if i get 2x54w ?

Is yours a Discus tank? Remember seeing it in a thread title. Discus are sensitive to water conditions. Would a planted tank make the water change difficult?

yes. planted discus tank. i already have a 3ft planted discus tank for quite some time. all are healthy. not difficult. i siphon the gravel to suck the poop out of the water like twice / week.
heard that those poop is beneficial for the plant toooo. =]

no.. just CRS and other shrimps

but my tank also 2ft.. solite type 4 is enough.. but Try LED less energy.. Just ensure your light can penetrate your 2ft of depth

i see.. you on all 4 bulbs or only 2 ? for how long / day ?

I on only 2 as it was to bright for my shrimps(scared they blind, hahahha) as i scared it might cause algae problems. Each day around 5 hours. (1hours morning, 2hours afternoon and 2 hours night). I think if longer might cause algae problems. I believe for planted longer time of light should not be a problem (6-8 hours) as last time i did full planted tank before.
