hi!I am not very sure where should my diffuser be placed in my tank? I am currently using a hang on filter. Please see the picture below. is it too high? Should it be on the left or right? Is it wrong to see the bubbles float to the water surface(CO2 wasted)?

Should be somewhere with water flow so the the bubble can be spread around and the positioning is quite high for me. i place mine closer to the gravel (but not touching, around 1-2cm above.).

Reason being more contact give them more time to dissolve CO2 into the water and flow to have a more evenly spread of CO2 in the tank.

the is no particular answer, you need to try and error, find the best location where the water flow carry the CO2 around the tank

Hang on filter may not be so ideal as water surface agitation will dilute co2 concentration in the water. Better to go with canister and calmer outflow.

Robert, any tips to "see" how the "water flow" to determine the best placement?

@tongyang. haha Bro, i know canister is better. However, i have bought the HOF before much research is done and considering the price of a canister is quite expensive. It will be a waste to not use the hof. I might switch to canister for my future projects thou. Thanks for your suggestion.

Drop some sinking fish food and see where they float in the water column to find out the flow pattern. Or food coloring but try at your own risk.
