Just acquired a "CO2 electric atomiser", where there is a block on carbon which fizzles n gives lots of tiny bubbles when turned on. Whats the difference btwn this, and the regular pressure system co2 bubbler? is the electric one better? or is it the pressured sys? coz i see that nearly EVERY planted tank uses the pressure system...
the cost effectiveness of the gas system wins out.
cost effective? as in, i need to change the carbon block much more regularly? oh dear... how long does a pressure system last, with, lets say 500ml bottle?
the carbon block requires yearly replacement and cost about $70++.
for $70, you can refill a 5l co2 cylinder at least 3 times.
each refill last at least half a year, depending on you tank size and bubbling rate.
electric co2 can be used for smaller tanks only.
Don't forget to do the sums on your electrical bills too.
An electronic atomiser will definately "eat" more electricity as compared to the soleniod regulator.
Therefore pressured C02 is still the "cheap" alternative.
