No worries bro.! I was a user of iq5 long ago. I believe the 2 nd compartment is good to place a heater. not sure about the skimmer since i never purchased a iq skimmer before.
a picture of the skimmer would be good.
Passed by an aquarium and saw some planted tanks . simply fell in love with it.
so did some research and bought a dymax Iq5 For my work place.

Some Questions
1) just realized theres 3 compartments .
Filter ( dont need to touch it right ?)
Middle compartment for the Skimmer ( i need another pump for this? if so ? which is the recommended one i should get ? Am i suppose to submerge the pump into the middle compartment? )
3rd Compartment ( suppose to just leave the pump right at the bottom and let the water pump out ? but theres no bubbles just jets of water?
Water level - I'm suppose to fill up the water level till the vented holes which flows onto the filter compartments?

Just asking...
The water level it's it suppose t totally submerge the top left hand grill for the filter?
Or just enough?
Can't help but feel that the water is not flowing....
just enough, like a skimmer effect kind of thing (hard for me to explain here lol).
