Has anyone seen this product available in the market? I'm honestly too lazy to DIY a fan and I'm looking for something sleek...

    Brian,

The fan you are looking for is from Kotobuki. It's available in 2 models for different capacity.

Currently, it's only available for 110V. So it will not be usable in Singapore unless you have a step down transformer. I have seen the fan being sold in HK and it should also be availabe in Taiwan and Korea.

Perhaps some of the more technically inclined can advise if you can just swap out the AC adapter to a 220V version to use it locally.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

If it's being sold in HK, wouldn't the voltage rating be the same as ours(I'm not sure)? I'm quite sick of DIYing things for my aquarium and I want something that looks nice. I don't mind if I have to pay a little more...

Simon, I've seen that fan, but more importantly, is the fan being sold locally?

Alternatively, if these are not available locally, anyone know of any nice looking fans I can buy that are really quiet?

    Cheers,
I can see a power jack under the fan... just buy a local 220-240V AC-DC adaptor that provides the correct DC voltage (probably 12V), enough amp (get one that exceeds the drawn current by 50%) to the fan.

If there is no jack, just cut the wires and splice to the 220-240V AC-DC adaptor.

That's a compact and sleek looking design, great for small tanks.

Exactly!! That's why I'm looking for it. I'm sick and tired of DIY and the fans I see available are down right ugly.

Sure, is a nice fan... I just went to it's website (It's in Japanese only)... their e-shop lists them at 3300 and 3800 Yen.. about SGD50 and SGD60. * Ouch *

Not quite. In principle it's the same. But the fan design and flow management is different.

Saw a fan that looks the same to the light blue one in the picture at Y934. Brand is Cyber Aqua, model Mr Cool 100. For tank up to 26 litre. $30.

I dropped by Y934 today... Wow, I was quite blown away by the amount of stuff they had on sale. I picked up the fan. The "uncle" who helped me out was quite friendly and very accomodating with the questions I had. Onto the fan...
The construct of the fan itself looks a little flimsy and "girly"(only the blue model is available). When turned on, the fan gives off a slightly high pitched whine and could annoy people who need complete silence from their equipment(namely people like me). I'm wondering if I should attach my own adjustable AC/DC adaptor to it to control the fan's speed and hopefully cut down on the noise when I sleep at night.
Nothing is mentioned on the box that it's only suitable on tanks up to 26 litres, but maybe I'm missing something from the Chinese instructions(instructions are in both Chinese and English).
Overall, I do like the sleek look(just not the colour) and it is a little too soon for me to comment on the performance of the fan(just bought it and have not used it yet. The tank has not even been set up yet).

    Price? SGD$30.
