Thanks. It's actually melting away pretty quickly. Not sure why. It has already been submerse for a few months. Soil's new with power sand special. Don't think its a lack of nutrients. Hope it rejuvenates soon. Crypts ae like phoenix huh? Out of the ashes they rise rejuvenated.

Update. Plants going amok. Wood's ready, but STILL WAITING for plants to arrive...... Taking way too long. Glossos already covered the entire foreground. I think i can start planting and supplying glosso. 3 weeks can grow a thick 2X1ft patch.

I'm equally puzzled. Every other plant types are growing well.

My tank is complete with flora.
Fauna's still in the pipeline though.

I've got my 2nd solite lightset. Notice that the two sets are joined together by metal strips at the sides.

The entire aquarium area. There's one more in the kitchen though.
The bottom tank hasn't been setup yet. It's going to be a species tank for cories.

O..K... Now for the main tank. From day 1.
Day 1.

Day 3. Rescaped a little.

Day 13. Major rescape. Trimmed all the stem plants to mid tank level. I hereby title this tank "1.7". Anyone wants to guess why?
Also, look at the glosso! Only 2 weeks and its covered the foreground. Amazing. Luckily no algae yet.

The new DW with flame moss, some bolbitis and "mini java fern".

Just realised another thing about your crypts. It may jsut be going through "crypt melt" due to it adapting from emmersed to submersed. Ususally the current leaves die off and new ones grow when this happens. Are there little holes appearing in the leaves, this would confirm the id.

Crypts generally undergo some form of melting when there is an environmental change. It could be anything from temperature to nutrient level.

It has been shown in our tanks as well that 2 weeks is about the time which takes glosso in a ADA soil + Power Sand special combination to cover an entire foreground.

Remember to get the tank ready and submit your photos for the competition. Deadline is the 31st of May!

I'm not intending to enter the competition. The tank's not ready, and more importantly, I don't think it's good enough to win anything. There's nothing unique about it (apart from the weird name and even weirder logic behind it, which I don't think is anything to boast about).

Hi guys,

need some suggestion for fauna for my tank.

Currently:
8X small nerite snails
5X Otos
2X Balloon Rams
6X Cardinal Tetras
~25 algae eating shrimps

I am thinking of adding a few of several more species. Looking for SMALL not-so-common fishes that aren't aggressive. Preferably not too active and darting around the tank. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Good growth! Notice your glosso growing abit upwards! You can try to change one of your light infront by putting a 10000K light to force the glosso to creep lower. I do that for my foreground plants to make them lies low. Other than that looks great to me!

Thanks. I've already got a 10000k in front. 2nd tube from front is a 8000k osram. 3rd and 4th tubes are both 6500k osram. Can't find a better 10000k tube though - using hopar now. There's no 10000k Osram tubes in NA. Anyone can recommend some good 10000k 2ft T5HO tubes?

Yes. The mounts are bascially 4 legs. You may try petmart or NA for solite lights. I bought one from each of them. You need to order in advance though. If I'm not wrong, I remember seeing a 3ft or 4 ft ligth set in petmart's hardcopy catalogue. Give them a call and ask.

Added more fauna.
My faunas:

1) 2 X balloon rams (Pic shows the male)


2) 6 X Cardina tetras


3) 6 X Dwarf Pencil Fish (Gotten from illumnae. Thanks a lot bro! They're really pretty, though my lousy camera doesn't do justice to their beauty.)


4) 3 X Sparkling Gourami (Love them. Curious little fishes that explores every little details of my DWs.)




5) 5 X Dario Dario
These little fishies are the cutest I've ever seen. They look like miniature cichlids, though they're not. Hiding amongst plants and in holes, they come out time to time flaring and interacting with conspecifics, just like cichlids do! Their territorial nature given their miniature size makes them a really interesting addition to an aquarium. You'll spend hours staring at your tank, just waiting for these feisty little guys to appear and enact their occasional drama.


6) 5 X Otocinclus
7) 8 X Horned Nerite Snails

Finally, a FTS. Background stem plants were trimmed this time at a point higher than the first trimming on day 13. The rotala indica grows too fast as compared to rotala "green". Flame moss on left DW is starting to grow upwards.
