2 pairs of my scalares laid eggs! Now they are showing aggression to anyone who comes close. In the tank are 5 wild discus, other 6 scalares, cardinal tetras, rummy-nosed tetras, and 3 L90 panaques. Just wondering if there is a need to remove the rest of the fishes. Will the breeding pairs get so aggressive that they pose a threat to the lives of the other fishes? The tank is a 4x2x2. Here's some pics anyway

One of the breeding pair tending to their eggs on the branch..the other pair laid their eggs on eheim pipe at dark corner..difficult to take pics of that..

    Rest of the tank mates

Scalares from Ben's, supposed to be wild

    The tank itself

Pardon the poor pics, lighting really low.

do you want the fries ?
remove the pair if didnt hatch this round if you want to raise some fries.

mostly the eggs will be eaten by parents itself in a comm tank.

    Nice setup..!!!..

If you want to keep the fries, then it is best to separate out the eggs.
last time I used a normal air tube to suck out the eggs while they were on leaves or on pipes in community tanks. Or you wait till the eggs hatch out and then use the tube to suck them out.

Thanks guys for the comments and advice. Think I may leave it for now. My spare tank is now full of wild hero cichlid fries. Already have my hands full taking care of the babies.

I thought it was a Rio Negro underwater picture.. hehe

    Quix, solid scape.
By the way, what brand of sand you using?
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

Normally I would say something about a tank with no plants, but this time I am out. Great setup.

Thanks all again for the nice comments. Luenny, this is my 4ft in the living room. The big plecos are still inside the 6ft in my room.
