hi Wee, well for me its beautifully scape...
densely planted...crystal clear water
A good choice of stem plants and foreground plants...
nice![]()
Hi All,
Recently set up a 30cm X 30cm X 30cm tank in my office. It has been 2 weeks now. Water seemed to have stablize.
Using Gex red pack soil for plants and shrimp.
Flora: Not too sure, need some help to identify them.
Fauna : 12 x harlequin and 2 x Sae. (Intending to add in some CRS later)
Lightings : 2 x 8watts T5 if i am not wrong.
Co2 : 1bps - 8 hours daily together with lightings.
Filter : Ehiem 2211
I have also attached some pictures, appreciate some comments and critics are welcome too.

Upclose of the tank.
Harlequin, I have got 12 in my tank.
Saes
- Any one can Id this plant?
- Anyone able to Id this plant as well? I bought 2 similar kinds from colourful aquarium, one is with red leaves and it melted after two week. The other one is with green leaves, doing well and new shoots can be seen already.
- Lastly the side view of my tank.
Enjoy and hope that bros here can give me advice on how to beautify the tank.
Cheers
Wee.

think i gonna get it during my next visit![]()
nice love the simple scape
Hi troyz,
I initially wanted to add black oyama background but was thinkin that the background stem plants will soon cover the back so I dropped that idea. Anyway I am still waiting for someone to Id the foreground plant and what are the requirements for the plant. The leaves are turning brown. Maybe i will post in the plants section for help. Anyway colourful aquarium had nicer tanks in the past I feel. Now so so only. Lol.
Hi guys, recently had alot of problems with BBA and Hair Algae. As i have co2 input does it mean i require high lightings as well?
I am currently using a 16w lighting only. Need some advice here as i heard with co2 input high lightings are required.
Hi,
I think your foreplant should be Staurogyne.
Be careful when you want to add CRS, need to cover up the filter intake plastic with sponge to avoid CRS suck in.
Hi,
I am not really sure if it is sufficient for your tank.
Mine is 36cm tank and I am using 16w and my plants/shrimps doing ok with no bba.
Checkout my tank.

Hi kenng,
Thank you for your reply. I noticed that most of your flora are moss so 16w should be enough. For mine i have some floras that does not belong to the moss family. Anyway i heard from some one that with Co2 input, high light is required. Not sure how true is that
I think your setup is good as it is if you follow the other advices. The regular pruning will keep the tank beautiful. BTW I notice that you are using flying fox, they will grow quite big for your tank, I recommend you remove them before it becomes too hard later on. Just a nerite snail and use liquid CO2 for your setup, you kill a few birds with one stone that way. you keep the algae growth down, don't need to change your light and the plants won't balloon in growth too fast.
Hi Jungle
Thank you for your reply. I have 3 nerite snails in my tank already. The GSA and Normal algae i am not that worried (Taken care by the snails and manually scraping off by hand). Its the hair algae and BBA!! Its killing me. Anyway flying fox refers to SAE? If it refers to SAE i have already removed them. I have also replaced my faulty solenoid as it is cause inconsistent Co2 level in my tank. I will try to post some updates on my tank when i
have the chance to do so. Liquid Co2 means removing my Co2 input?
Cheers
Ah those algae in a small tank, tricky stuff. It is strange you have those algae in your tank setup given the filter and your plant density. Do you dose fert? IMHO, I find CO2 input for a small tank are overkill.
The tank is lookign good and it looks like you have planted dense enough. Hoping to see more updates with a lusher tank. Algae is present in every tank. Try your best to control it via environment as in reducing number of hours the light is on, change 10-15% water regularly and fert according to your water volume. Good luck!
- 3ft x 1ft x 1ft planted with assorted.
- 30cm x 20cm x 20cm nano for Sakuras, low grade CRS/BDS .
- 15cm cube Bumblebee goby biotope
- 15cm cube in office (Sep 10) [Decommed]
Hi, its the BBA and Hair Algae. Hate it to the max. I believe the algae problems is due to my spoil solenoid. I have since replace it. hope to see some improvements. Anyway the existing BBA wont dissappear even if my tank conditions improves right? I have to manually remove them?
cheers.
Hi Stelim,
My lighting period is around 6hours with a timer. I do not dose liquid fertilizers because i have co2 in my tank already. i do use some ferka tablets for the stem plants and foreground plants. I hardly have time to do water change as it is in the office and i can only do it on weekend. Maybe once a week. I will monitor the situation as i just changed the solenoid. My guts feeling is that the co2 is not evenly distributed among the tank.
Cheers.
Thank you for your reply.
Skip the tablet, do more water change for now, like every 2 days for a week, even 2 cups of water would help. I think you might want to relook at your filter inlet and outlet positions. 6 hours lighting is too short for you CO2 intake, try going for 8.
Hi Jungle.
Noted of the changing of water. I will try to do water change more frequently but as mentioned in my previous reply to stelim, changing water not very convinient for me as the tank is in my office.
Anyway can you enlighten me n the filter inlet and outlet position? I will extend the lighting period to 8 hours.
Thank you so much for your help
