Very nice, any idea what is the scientific name for this shrimps? are they hight order? is the color stable?
This beautiful shrimp is bred for dark blue color, some can reach the extend of dark black. Japaneses call them Gold Eyes Shrimps, look at the color of their eyes and you will know why they have the name.
The color of GES ranges from pale blue to navy blue, some look black, some has a reddish layer on top of blue.
They prefer slight alkaline water, in Singapore, we can keep them without using soil based gravel such as ADAsoil.
It can tolerate slightly higher temperature then CRS, but the breeder keeps them in the same aircon room as CRS which is about 26C.
They can live in acidic water, but color is not so intensed.
The gold color eyes is breed true.
Blue color also breed tue, but intensity varies.

Sorry, what is the meaning of breed true?selective breed?
I saw blue shrimps at NA but some of their color is brown. So I suspect maybe it is malayan.

OK I found the meaning of breed true: "A phenotype for a simply-inherited trait is said to breed true if two parents with that phenotype produce offspring of that same phenotype exclusively"
WOW.... Very impressive Shrimps indeed...
Cheers...
Edit: There is no need to quote the entire post as it is obvious we are talking about the gold eye shrimps. Use "Post Reply" instead.

Very niiiiceeee.... Have these shrimps hit any lfs yet?![]()
The photos are from Silane, so might be able to get it from Silane![]()
selective breeding is what most breeders do.
they select specific traits they want to enhance and use adults with these traits.
at the beginning of selective breeding they may not breed true.
ie. the fry will not all have the desired trait.
example, breeder want blue colour trait.
but some may look blue like one parent while the rest may look red like the other parent.
over successive generations the trait will be "fixed" by selectively breeding blue specimens.
these will then breed true, ie. all the fry will inherit the desired trait - blue colour.

where can i get thiese shrimps?
Hi Shadow,
The shrimps are unlike the blue shrimps sold at NA. If you look closely to the photo, they are with tiger stripes. The shrimps are blue/black tiger shrimps if I am not wrong. Seldom or never we see it in our LFS. If you do a search in the web, the shrimps are more popular in Germany.
cool shrimp. if they prefer slight alkaline, maybe i think they can co-exist with my sulawesi.
