Any one can help?

Does anyone use ANS drop checker? I'm using ANS drop checker and I lost the instruction, I forgot how many drop should I add the pH solution.
If anyone happen to use ANS drop checker please let me know how many drop to use. Thanks

Any one can help?

Did some "detective work" on google, managed to find this blog
The owner took some photos of the ANS drop checker, from what I could make out from the second photo, it is 3-4 drop.
Hope it helps.

Post the instruction online. I hope this will help. thanks for using ANS ..
ANS Permanent CO2 Tester
-An all-glass CO2 monitoring tester which provides continuously CO2 level for a long period
-Easy indication of CO2 level by the colour of the liquid in the tester
Instructions
1)Fixed suction cup into its holder
2)Invert the tester and put 3-4 drops of reagent into the ball side of the tester.
3)In the same invert position, place some aquarium water into the tester (amount of water needed is to fill up to half of the ball
4)Tap on the Tester gently to allow the liquid to follow into the ball
5)Thereafter, slowly turn the tester (make sure the indicator liquid has flowed into the ball) into an upright position.
6)Place the tester (with the suction cup) into the aquarium. Make sure there is an air column in between the indicator liquid and the surrounding aquarium water
7)Do not place the tester beside the CO2 diffuser and the outlet of the filter.
Result
The colour of the indicating liquid changes to the level of CO2 dissolved in the water. Judge the level of CO2 in comparison to the Colour Chart
Yellow: too much CO2
Green: OK
Blue: too little CO2

Thanks bro for the clarification.

Hi,
I am using the same checker. May I ask, how long does it take for the solution to be in the glass ball that was immerse in the tank to give a reading that we can take reference of ?
I first put it in last night, when I check this morning, the colour is still the same (orangey, the color of the solution + tank water). I accidently put in 5 drops, will that be a factor? I really doubt so.
Thanks
EK
Usually it take about 2hrs for a new fresh make. In order to get accurate reading, you must use KH4 solution with about 4-5 drops of solution, the mix solution will turn dark green. Why use KH4 solution instead of tank water or tap water, because those water has too many impurities, it will give inaccurate result.Thats why you have orangery colour all the time.

make sure you are using KH=4 solution. To test whether the drop checker working or not, you can take it out from the tank and leave it for few minutes/hour, it should turn to blue.

The other difference could be the type of pH indicator being used. Most common is Bromothymol blue but some might be using Phenol red.

Thanks guys.
Will change tonigt, the given solution(4 drops) + KH4 (4 drops). It will turn dark green.... wait for a few mins, it will turn blue.
If this nis the outcome, is ready to be in the tank to help me .... got it.
Thanks again
EK

Oh.... come to think about it, I need to make the KH4 solution.
http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=31736
it will be a good challenge. But is there any other ways of getting the KH4 solution ?
EK

buy online, I don;t think LFS have any. You can DIY using distiled water, baking soda and KH tester.

Thanks Robert.
I would not want to DIY yet as I am still very "green" on these. May be will try when I have more experience and actually stuy and underand more details.
For now, I love the hobby and wants to move 1 step at a time....

I do my own like Robert mention, DIY using RO water, baking soda and KH tester.![]()

Seems like I will need to drop by NTUC tonight......
Side track a little, If I made it, the KH4 solution, will it change it value over time ? like increased ? If the value will increase, then no point to make more, if it drops (a little), can consider to make more to keep.

Robert, Peter and Adrian,
Thanks for your help. I got my 1st bottle of KH4 solution
. It cost me maybe slightly more than S$30
, but is worth it. Next time it may only cost me less than S$5 or even lesser to make it.
Distilled water from NTUC 500ml X 3 @ S$0.85
Bicarbonate of Soda (baking soda) S$1.15
Sera KH tester 1.5 bottle.
Just a note for any newbies who wants to try a DIY KH4 solution, starts with 1g or less of baking soda for 500ml of distiled water, otherwise you may ends up like me using more than 1.5 bottle of the test solution. In addition, when you reached 5 drops of the test solutions and the color is still in the blue or green, discard it and try again, do not waste your test solution until it turn yellow. Do not be stubbon like me to find out the answer......
Now, I have about 500ml of KH4 solution, it's going to take me a while to finish it, a long long long while.
