Used to get dwarf puffer fish to combat snail problems, it cleared my tank of snails in about 2 weeks. But it'll turn turn nasty and nip the tail of your fishes once it depleted its food source. They will usually go for fishes with attractive tails.
I was thinking of getting a puffer fish to clear the snails in my tank.
At first, I thought that puffers will nip just the snails and maybe shrimps.
So I wanted to get one but I was told that puffers will also nip the fins of other fishes.
Is that true? Will puffers nip the fins? Or will they just nip 'selected' fishes?
Is there a puffer that will just nip snails?

Yes they will nip all fish they can catch.
