2ppm ?? Mine is usually 0, nitrite like ammonia is toxic, and anything above 0 is a cause for concerns. By the way, when shrimps werent eating, did you manage to fish out all those unfinished food ?
I have about 10+ CRS in my 1ft tank. They doesnt seem to eat any food I put in, saying Mosura, Hayashi, JBL. JBL shrimp food has the most response but the CRS just eat a bit and left... All the shrimps like to eat unknown things on my rocks & chendol plants. Sometimes I see them not eating anything. Any advice on this?
Besides, I also do constant water test. It's odd that my Amonia (NH3) is 0ppm while my Nitrite (NO2) is as high as 2ppm. The pH is 6.5. Tank without CO2 & ferts. Tank is cycled for 3 weeks already with live bacteria add-in + Mosura Bio Plus. Is there anyway to reduce the Nitrite?

yes. I know it's toxic.... But it's wierd that the nitrite is high while Amonia is 0. Will it because my tank has lacked of nitrite bacteria?
What should I do? 40% water changes?
If possible, have to fish up all the food and do a nitrite test again. You may have other problems since shrimp isn't eating as well, are they active or do they stay in 1 place all the time ?
My pH is stable at 6.5 with Gex soil. My Filter is Eden 501 with original ceramic ring + BioHome. I just do 10% water change today by dripping method. Nitril is still as high as 2. Amonia 0. The shrimps are all hiding but I saw them eating & digging out my soil. Whenever I throw in Mosura Bio plus, they seem crazy jumping out of their hiding places and going to eat the bioplus...
If the filter wasn't cycled properly, what should I do now?
Get some liquid BB and cross your fingers
I do have liquid BB and I have been injecting it during my first 3 weeks of cycling. May be my liquid BB doesnt have nitrite Bacteria.. Which liquid BB in the market has this bacteria?

Most enzymes contain beneficial bacterias, it should read on the label. Which brand you are currently using ?
thx a lot Silane. Will do as you advise.
3 weeks might not be enough.. Your add in bacterial might not like your tank water in the first place. In future, maybe can try the old fashion fish poo (Any freshwater fish especially goldfish also can,, many, unlimitted, free and of course o=natural.. )
Shrimp not eating because they are not happy, quite sure not with your food but the tank itselves.. Did you "drip" your shrimp with the tank water before u put them in? In the shop, you use the water from the shrimps tank when you net them. Extreme water Temp and PH change will shock them. With the shop water considered, double shock?
Now, no choice, just follow what silane suggest, ... patience and observe while waiting for your filter and tank to kick in.
Unless extreme case of water fouling, large water change will cause more shock,, to your bacterial(especially your nitrite ones) and your shrimp.
BTW, whatever you add in now(bio plus..) will only add more changes to your water.
Later, just follow the magic word, "constant" or just small changes.
What substrates are you using? Did you put in any stone, rock , corals...?
Water in small tank will be more easily affected by them.
for smaller tank, try to do smaller percent water changes unless of course you condition the new water to exactly the same as your tank water.
Lastly, Shrimp dont like extreme sports
Cheers

It takes a few days for your shrimps to get use to your tank, follow the advise given, feed alittle, in a few days intervals.
today the nitril test kit said the nitrite is 0ppm. So I think it's because there is food left over in the tank that I couldnt find to take out. Thank to all bros here for your kind advice these days. It's a big lesson to me to see how easy a 1ft enviroment can be affected by minor changes
. I must stop my temptation to feed the shrimp now.
No problem, give it time.
An update of my Shrimp tank can be found here: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...413#post319413
Just curious, how did you actually determine that *only* Fritz works and not the rest?
Let me just say that it is not just a matter of adding live bacteria in the tank only. A lot depends on what you do in between as well.
Now, back to the cycling, just to clarify, there are two parts to the nitrogen cycle. The two parts are conversion of ammonia (NH3) to nitrite (NO2) and then, conversion of nitrite (NO2) to nitrate (NO3). Different bacterias perform the different parts above.
Therefore, the cycling the tank refers to the process of establishing the different bacterial colonies in the filter bed that convert ammonia -> nitrite -> nitrate (in that particular order).
I had started a few tanks at different periods with at least 4 different BB product. Some liquid and some dried powdery ones(cost more!).
Somemore if I am not wrong Fritz only has a short shelf life of 3 months?
Of course I use test kits to monitor the nitrite, nitrate and ammonia levels.

I don't mean to be offensive or anything, but just my honest opinion that it will only be conclusive if all the tanks are exactly the same (same size, same soil, same filter, same decoration, same fish for cycling, etc) and repeated several times over.
Anyway, whether the products work or not, depends on personal opinions. I do know of some who absolutely don't trust any product of this kind.
Regardless, either test for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate (albeit error margins from the test kits) or cycle the tank for the longest time possible is probably the way to go.
Cheers.
