I am looking for an aquarium fan that is powerful, yet is silent. Currently, I am using a 4 cooling fan sys which is quite noisy. Cant remember the brand though.

Any one out there with any suggestions? I got a friend who suggested DIY a CPU fan and converting it to an aquarium fan. Anyone tried?

I saw this fan in NA with a cream color case selling for 30++. According to the shop owner, its quite quiet. anyone tried?

Most fan after a while will have noise due to vibration. The bigger and more powerful, the more noisy. You may want try a few good smaller fan to help but again you may not achieve the result you want. Ultimately a chiller might be the answer to it.

I use Dymax as well and no problems so far. In fact, accidentally dropped the whole fan into my tank this morning. Picked it up and still running. In addition, it is one of the few fans available that can clip to a tank with braces.

YOu may want to try Mr Aqua range of fans. Silent and powerful.

Alternatively you can DIY them at very affordable cost.

I believe that 4 cooling fan is ocean free brand, I have one too, it make too much noise so keep it at my store room after using for a week. Get the Mr Aqua Super Tornado Fan, with me for 1 year, still remain quiet and efficient, able to cool down 2 degree for my 1.5ft tank. Tries Dymax and other AC fan too, I will still stick to Mr Aqua.

Check out this thread fore more info.

hehe... I thought they would too but then I realise that the fan is ACDC converted so the current akin to batteries only.

Yup... different setups, different parameters. I have a tank w/o fan next to the tank with fan that somehow maintains its temperature to be similar to the fanned tank. Not sure why but the setups are different.

The tank without fan ranges between 24-27. The main differences with the fanned tank is that it is 3 times larger, runs 3 filters and is very densely planted... so maybe lots of oxygen in the day.
