I hate to say this but something is really not right... in the past 1 week there've been 3 major earthquakes

Latest earthquake hit Taiwan this morning

If someone out there is watching this space and knows what's going on and sees a trend in the following please at least explain to us layman

    7.0 magnitude Japan 26 February
    8.8 magnitude Chile 27 February
    6.4 magnitude Taiwan 4 March

Re: 7 days 3 earthquakes - Something is seriously not right

Its because of the super major earthquake at Chile at 8.8. That cause the Pacific Ring Of Fire ( Pacific tectonic plate ) to release tension in other parts of the plates. Its perfectly normal. We should be worrying if there's no plate tectonic movements. Plate tectonic movements creates the Earth we live in today.

There is always updated geological and seismic info on the USGS website:

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak...quakes_big.php

Seems the latest one hit SW of Sumatra, Indonesia at magnitude 6.5. That's a fairly sized one to begin with. Probably connected to the effect at the other end of the plate after the Chile earthquake.

Once, Lake Toba erupts, the dust cloud covers the entire earth. Volcanic particles analysis shows American continents containing such residue. Yellow stone park is bigger than Lake Toba and is slanted to erupt but no one has the timetable so this is the most scary part of them all. When earth releases stress via plate tectonic movement, even if you have the best building code, the building might not stand. So take your time and enjoy your hobby.

The last quake I felt in Woodlands, my fishes gave me the warning first about 10 mins of warnings. You don't need a catfish to tell you kok kok.

actually there is such an engineering proposal, just waiting for materials science to catch up. it comprises large thin sheets stringed together forming a belt in space. this serves to block out some amount of sun and also may be used to generate solar electricity that can be beamed back to Earth.

. Where did you get this idea from? The magnetic field has shifted before in the past. The earth is not inching toward the sun.

Don't misread me I never linked the inching of earth towards the sun with weakening of the magnetic earth's core. The fact is that the sun is weakening faster than the earth thus an increase influx of sun spots and solar flare.

Here is an article from NASA Cosmicopia
    http://helios.gsfc.nasa.gov/qa_earth.html#orbitchange

    36. Changes in the Earth-Sun Distance

I read in an article that the Sun is currently closer to the Earth than it has been in a long time. Why should the Earth-Sun distance change over such a long time scale?

The Earth's orbit changes on several time scales, each of which affect the intensity of radiation we observe at Earth.
The first change is the winter and summer solstice, where the Sun-Earth distance varies between 91,400,000 miles and 94,400,000 miles.

Now on longer time scales, the actual shape of the Earth's orbit changes every 100,000 years, vacillating between more circular and more elliptical. In this case, when the Earth is closest to the Sun it actually receives 20-30% more sunlight.

In addition, the Earth wobbles on its axis every 26,000 years, changing the time at which winter and summer occur.
Finally, the tilt of the Earth varies every 40,000 years by about 2 arc degrees, which affects the temperature difference between winter and summer.

These changes are termed the "Milankovitch theory" after the geophysicist who first proposed it and are believed to operate together to produce dramatic temperature variations on Earth. You might want to read more about the Milankovitch theory and solar radiation variations at the U.S. Naval Observatory Astronomical Applications Department and the Encyclopedia of the Atmospheric Environment.

It's quite complicated, sun spot itself also plays a part. Basically if earth was to burn up, I don't think we will be around to watch it, we be long gone before it happens. Dead as in pass away via natural aging not burnt to death. Who can live for thousands of years...someone actually estimate it to be one billion year.

Due earth's rotation axis, there are many interesting findings too, E.g. Egypt was once filled with water, able to grow crops, travel by ships. Findings of seashells, sea creature fossils in the middle of a desert was the main source of that theory. Due to the rotational change in axis, certain part now drys up to be desert and it still going change further only thing is that you have to live long enough inorder to notice it.

Yellow Stone Park otherwise known as Yellowstone Caldera
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowstone_Caldera

    Volcanic hazards

    Diagram of the Yellowstone Caldera

The last full-scale eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano, the Lava Creek eruption which happened nearly 640,000 years ago[18], ejected approximately 240 cubic miles (1000 cubic kilometres) of rock and dust into the sky.[9]
Geologists are closely monitoring the rise and fall of the Yellowstone Plateau, which averages ±0.6 inches (about ±1.5 cm) yearly, as an indication of changes in magma chamber pressure.[19][20]
The upward movement of the Yellowstone caldera floor—almost 3 inches (7 centimeters) each year for the past three years—is more than three times greater than ever observed since such measurements began in 1923.[21] From mid-Summer 2004 through mid-Summer 2008, the land surface within the caldera has moved upwards, as much as 8 inches at the White Lake GPS station.[22] At the end of 2009, the uplift has slowed down significantly and might have stopped.[23] As of January 2010, the USGS has revised that statement to indicate simply "that uplift of the Yellowstone Caldera has slowed significantly." [24] as uplift continues at a slower pace [25]. The U.S. Geological Survey, University of Utah and National Park Service scientists with the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory maintain that they "see no evidence that another such cataclysmic eruption will occur at Yellowstone in the foreseeable future. Recurrence intervals of these events are neither regular nor predictable."[9]

Click on the above website to read more.

In December 2008, continuing into January 2009, more than 500 quakes were detected under the northwest end of Yellowstone Lake over a seven day span, with the largest registering a magnitude of 3.9.[14][15]. The most recent swarm started after the January 2010 Haiti earthquake. With 1620 small earthquakes between January 17, 2010 and February 1, 2010, this swarm was the second largest ever recorded in the Yellowstone Caldera. The largest of these shocks was a magnitude 3.8 on January 21, 2010 at 11:16 PM MST. [16][17].

    Earth swiching polarity

Okay, this one I am not going to do the quote, if you are interested, please click on the link and read it. There are too many articles on all these topics.

Those who are reading this thread would find yourself a moment of silence. The rate of ice melting have increased. Don't believe, take a food container, freeze into ice block, then pour a cup of water over the ice at one point. You'd notice it takes less than 5 mins to punch through a hole.

So as ordinary people like us, what can we do? I uses 10w lights for my house 10 years back during renovation of lights. Hence it uses less energy. I uses air flow control to cool the house hence the lesser reliance on cooling machines such as fans and air con. If I need to turn on air-con, 15mins, then let the room cool before switching on one hour later. You might not realise but such things do help a bit.

Some of you might have read on Planet Nibiru, collision of another planet with Mother Earth on 21 Dec 2012. Well, not truth, if you want to find out on this, goto Nasa website where they have a detail explanation on this. How about the Mayan calendar? Yet to be proven, but Mayan themselves have sophisticated way to calculation as well, but a civilisation disappeared without much trace still remains a mystery until now.

The basics here, live your life, live simplier. If you wish to embrace your love, go ahead. If you wish to embrace your hobby, go ahead. If you wish to embrace your goals, go ahead. Living without regret even if you have to pay tuition fee to gain experience along the way.

I did not linked both of them together. Notice the full stop between the 2 sentence? Both sentence are 2 different sentences that I replied in regard to your claim.

The earth orbit changes but it is not getting any nearer. It will also orbit away too. Like the sentence you quoted above above-" vacillating between more circular and more elliptical". You do understand what this means right? I believe the hot weather we are encountering is due to the El Nina weather phenomenon but I may be wrong.
