We won't flame you...why will we? we will kindly tell you what is right to do.

It depends on what kind of plants you are getting. If you are getting low demand plants such as mosses, nanas, ferns, hygrophilia, marsilea hirsuta,...they probably can survive but won't grow fast. These above plants need at least abit of light to grow.(imagine,if they are not eating enough , do you expected them to grow taller and bigger?)
If you get plants such as HC and other more demanding plants(which requires co2,strong light, cool water and ferts) then they definitely die..
    Aspiring to be.

You can buy any fluorescent light you want, just make sure it's white and not pink/blue like some shops say. What's the size of your tank?

kinda small to see the gravel.. if you are attempting to grow hairgrass in lowtech 2ft setting, you need atleast 36 watts of lighting

    Advice from boss Felix

driftwood? then that should be the main culprit already. The hairgrass needs to be planted into the soil.. Also, im not quite sure 18W is sufficient for a 2x1x1 feet tank as when i started out in planted tanks, i was always advised to use atleast 36W rule for low tech. but now i only do nano tanks 2 feet no space haha

May I ask why is it not advisable to use pink/blue lights?

Because it will make the plant look ugly , just get normal OSRAM or Philips either daylight or cool daylight. For 2ft low tech I would recommend 24W - 36W, lower that and you limit yourself on what plants species you can keep

    Re: Qns: About Aquarium plants

Haha yea, pink light really making fish nicer especially flowerhorn But some tetra excel in white lights too. And from my experience some aggressive fish tend to be less aggressive if you light is like very strong pink like T8 light and above. Eg , my pearl gouramis used to chase my blue gouramis around in white light but when i on the strong t8 pink light, every fish become red,and the pearl dont chase the blue one anymore, lol. Kinda funny, haha.
