Im currently using a dolphin HOF for my 10L shrimp tank. Everything is fine. Shrimps molting fine and some shrimplets seen. Was considering getting a Eden 501 as I have read how good and somewhat cheaper than brands like Eheim. Is this ok? And how do i swap the filter? as in, do i have to run both the HOF and the eden 501 together in the tank for the Eden 501 to build up its BB?

Also i would like to know if the eden 501 will be too powerful for my small tank. And whether it will fit my tank. For refrence to my tank size and stuff can refer to my older post: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ie-shrimp-tank

Do you any medias in the form of ceramic rings, biohome etc in your existing filter? If yes, I would suggest transferring such medias over to your future Eden 501, that should enable you to immediately cease the operation of your HOF and start using the new filter. Else, it would be ideal to run both new and old filters concurrently for 1-2 weeks.

On the other topic, I think the flow rate will be fine for 10L if you direct the rainbar against the tank wall. If it is still a tad too strong a current for you, just pack more medias in the canister as this will also slow down flow rate.

Hi buddy, just to inform you that if you are planning to get another HOF, NA is having a sale on their eheim HOF. So you should be able to get a pretty decent on at a decent price. I got the cheapest one and it works extremely well, but you have to add your own media.

Hi Leon, I noticed that your previous post (http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ie-shrimp-tank) was only a fews days old. Wow so fast you have shrimplets. I also saw some Neon Tetras in the same tank as your Sakura & Fire Yellow shrimp. Don't the Neon tetra eat up your shrimplets? THanks.

Lol. I not sure if my tank is so small does it really need a Eden 501?
My tank has been setup for few weeks alr. Finally took the courage to share it lol. The shrimplets were probable a week old already but I didn't see them. My tetras doesn't seem to disturb them

The Eden 501 will be fine for this tank, but you may need to turn down the output flow a little if possible. The tank seems pretty small, so a reasonable option would be to upgrade to a larger HOF if you are afraid the Eden will be too strong for the animals in the tank.
