I'm planning to hook up a 2026 and a 2028 to 1 inlet with surface skimmer. As I want to minimise the amount of equipment put into the actual tank, I'm planning to share only 1 inlet to the 2 canister.

    A few questions:

    1. Is this a good idea, or will it cause the canister to have improper function?

    2. Have anyone tried this before and how is their experience with it?

    3. What is the best method to connect 2 canister to 1 inlet?

    Thanks AQ

Sure. I'm currently in midst of setting up 5ft using 2 canisters. It ran well yesterday. Joint them together using t-joint. Best to use y-joint if you can find. use 16/22 size, minimum. However i found the flow not optimized with multiple canister. I try to observe the flow with each canister turn on independently. And then combine together.

Hi blurless thanks for the link.
I think the problem with back flow will occur when 1 of the filter is not switched on or have a weaker pump. The stronger pump will suck water not only from the inlet but also from the other filter, causing back flow.
I guess the best way is trying and experimenting myself.

    Hi Shrimpist,

Great! Do update us on your progress. Would like to know if its okay with using 2 pumps to 1 inlet.
