Hi all, i'd noticed that 1 of my CPO had for the last 2 days, at the corner of the tank seems like its trying to climb up the tank wall (seems like its trying to be spiderman to scale the wall). It is trying to hang on only to have lost its grip and fell but that does not stop it from trying again and again.

I'd just did a 20% WC. It in my 2ft tank with another 2 CPOs and the rest of the community as in my signature. The back of this tank is mature with weeping, flame moss and pelia.

    What could be the problem(s)?

From my limited knowledge and experience with CPO, these guys are climbers and escape artists and will try to escape the tank even if there's nothing wrong.
Unless you notice fighting with the other 2 CPOs, I think this fella is just trying to fulfill the urge to climb and explore?

Re: CPO - What could be the problem?

my small tank has 2 CPOs also, and they stayed at the bottom of the tank all the time (from my night feeding observation).
usually 1 will stay under a driftwood and the other behind the sponge filter.
they will also walk around when they are bored (it seems).

these 2 CPOs are my new batch bought about a month ago.

I had 4 CPOs previously but all died with unsuccessful molting. For this old batch, I did noticed one (or a couple, can't remember) trying to escape like what you have described. Mine also tried to climb up via the sponge filter tubing.

I don't know why they do that and why this new batch doesn't.
I am not sure on my water parameters because I don't have any kit.

My tank changes between the old and new batch of CPOs are:
    - sponge filter got dirtier
    - added mini nana (but melting now) to the driftwood
    - added java ferns
    - added pelia moss

but I don't really know what could be the problem, bro. pai seh ah, can only share my CPO experience with you.
    from 14L to 8L tank.

I see. Didn't notice them fighting but it sure need some tools and training before it can climb this vertical wall.

With my limited experience with them, they usually climb about so what you are seeing is normal activity.

Its trying climb the tank wall again, quite entertaining seeing it try again and again. Again and again it fell on its back. Admired its preserverance.

As what Felix had link to, its Cambarellus patzcuarensis "Orange" or Mexican Dwarf Crayfish "Orange".
On your sms lingo, just be mindful and spell out in full when you are typing. As there are friends/ fellow hobbists from around the world in our forum, its our duty as a friend/ fellow hobbist to make the reading as comfortable as possible and not for more than half the time you are trying to figure out the sentences. Cheers
