    Hi fellow hobbyists,
Working on my long overdue project, 'The Amazon'. Is anyone using the Ehiem pro 3 now? Any comments on this model would be greatly appreciated.
Also brought to my attention by Ranmasatome, that there is another model Pro 3 that can preset certain waterflow pressure throughout the day. Err...something like heavy pressure between 12-4pm then back to normal pressure to simulate tidal flow or river flow. KIndly share your experience here, thanking in advance.
PS: I am thinking of investing in 1 but wary of electronics in a water environment.

Heard that pro 3e costs a bomb. Not too sure what are the other additional functionalities.

As for the variable pressure to simulate tidal, I guess you can connect an additional pump to a timer & set when to turn it on & off. Just my 2 cents
    Cheers,

I'll have to agree with ranma. Estatically it doesn't look nice both in the tank and outside but it's a good suggestion to use an additional pump with a timer on it if you're on a budget.

At this point in time there are probably very few people using it cos i don't think anybody has seen it in action yet plus it's also VERY expensive. So people will probably just look see look see first from the box. But once aquarama arrives and the pro 3e is displayed and in action..... Yeehaa some of the bros here will probably chiong liao!

Don't know whether can fit my luggage or not.
I'm more seduced by the ADA Super Jet ES 600. Simple design but cost more. Argh!

Same feeling, Ranma. After viewing it the other day with you, just couldn't get it out of my mind. If it proves to be as reliable as the other models, I'm going to put my money into one too. It's going into a huge tank, probably a 7'(L)x2.5'(W)x1.8'(H), home for one gigantic 3 footer pleco. Trying to bring a piece of the Amazon back to my place.

Stan, I've a friend selling luggage bag, definitely enough to fit both filters and some savings too from the bag.

Hi UKlau, thought of the same thing but I'm trying to control my household power usage.( part of my silly plans to protect our environment...lol )but I think we save more in the long run, considering the ever spiralling costs of electricity in singapore.

Also to set the record straight, the price does not differs too much from Pro3.

Lol, the super jet ES is really heavy! Not sure I want to lug it and end up paying 40% tax...

The pro 3E is nice but I'm thinking the tubing is a bit odd with 2 in one out.
I just wish they upgrade the 2217.

A large pump invariably comes with more problems like sucking the mini fauna.[even a small canister does that]

I'm very KiaSU, so currently running 2 pro3e concurrently for that crs tank, 2076 and 2078.. They are awesome filters, and programmable, not to mention the flowrate is highly adjustable electornically.. Oh and yes, it has one inlet and one outlet, vs the old pro3 which was 2in and 1 out...

    Hi Zeloc,
Thanks for the information, how long have you had the filters? any noticeable difference in electricity consumption? Thanks.

Yo, Ranma, can't figure this out. They claim Pro3 is for 1200L and L/H is 1700, then Pro3E is for 700L and L/H is 1850. So what does this mean? Pro3 is for bigger tank but Pro3E is stronger? Got the stats from their website.

    ya precisely..
Pro 3 is still a big filter after all.. it can handle more crap and dirt and what not..
Pro3e i think is still a rather small filter relatively.. albeit a little bigger than the 2028. So handles smaller aquariums but at faster rate....

Another point to note also is although the Pro3E has more electronics, power consumption is only 10-35 watts whereas the Pro3 consumption is 30 watts. hmm.....maybe can see at Aquarama what the day/night mode and wave maker feature is.

    Hi there bro michael,
sry for the late reply man, but i dun really take a look at e electrical consumption, i've had them for 4mths now and they're been really reliable and handy-typical of eheim products- and the highly adjustable flowrate really comes in handy too = p i run BOTH the large and small pro 3e on my CRS tank = p

    Hi Zeloc,

I've heard from some guys doing setups that the pro3e is a bit of a problem to setup. They keep getting error messages. They read the whole manual till it said if you still can't start it please the Eheim tech support. [wry laugh]
Eventually they manage to figure it out after a few calls. Similarly for the Fluval equivalent. It was also giving out error messages. Perhaps they're not familiar with electronic type canisters but their concensus was both were a bit tricky.

In your experience, was there any hiccups? Just curious as the filter seems on one hand a must have but figuring out menu's and electronics is not everybody's cup of tea especially when then error messages don't make sense eg: seal not tight etc when you closed it as tight as it should.

HAHA, yes i supposed the manual is more comples then say a 'jebao' because the functions are more diverse?

Anyway, i suspect i am lucky then because i faced no problems when i set up my 2 pro3e.. A few of my frens however faced the same problem, which is when the filled the PRE-FILTER.. It is stressed in the manual tt u musn't do tt or e filter wun run >_<

Apart from tt, if u follow e manual closely, step by step, should be fine i think?
