Mix max is good. Highly recommended. Havn't tried the other one though.
Has anyone tried this CO2 reactor/diffuser as below?

If yes, how is it compare to the newer mix max as below?

Please advise if possible. Thanks.![]()

I have and have used both. The CO2 reactor/diffuser works well, but if the flow rate is too high or the bubble rate is too high you will get the CO2 mist effect though out the tank, which I find clouding.
The mix max is really good and not that problem, and has been adjusted better for different flow rates and works great. Only problem most people have is with positioning it, as it needs to be turned completely upside down after starting the canister filter, to allow the air to be removed from it when first started.

No The Eden 501 is not powerful enough to run it. I know this first had. I helped with the testing process of the Mix Max and one of the Filters I used was an Eden 501. That was one problem, it wasn't able to push the water enough to have the CO2 discolved and after about 45minutes of running the top of the Mix Max would fill with CO2 and the propeller would stop moving, so the CO2 would no disolve. The Mix Max would have to be turned vertically to start again. The problem was the flow rate, thus now the Mix max small Min. Flow rate is stated at 360 lpr not 300 so that the Eden 501 and other small filters would not be used on it.

Thanks tcampbell for your information.
I normally using 2 bubbles of CO2 per second. Is it consider low or high? I am using Ehiem 2028 but I use a T-joint to separate the output flow. So, it should be about half of the total 2028 flow rate....say 600L.
For my case, which would you recommend? Please advise if possible. Thanks.
My personal opinion is for a smaller tank the CO2 reactor/diffuser works wonderful, and it works fine with the Eden 501 or other small cansister filters. The Mix Max needs a stronger flow rate to keep the impeller spinning at a fast enough rate to "crush" the co2 bubbles and allow them to disolve in the water. The CO2 reactor/diffuser is like a diffuser, as the co2 enters the outer ring and is diffused through the membrane into the water flow. With both you will notice that you will need a lower bubble rate to have the same co2 concentration in the tank. They are very effective.
2 bubbles per second is fine, usually the problem happens when faster bubble rates of 4 ~5 bubbles per second, though not recommended with smaller tanks as that would put an excessive amount of Co2 into the tank.

Great,
I simply cannot put too much things inside my 1.5ft tank ( readiffuser)
The first one is the right one for my Eden 501 then.
Your info is greatly appreciated.Thomas.
Ana,

Hi r4211z, I saw it at the "Aquatic connection" (not too sure the actual name) fish shop. It is at Aljunied area...walking distance from the Aljunied MRT. It is behind the Audio House's building under the shop houses of the HDB flat. I think is about $28 if I am not wrong. Let me know if you need more info.
As for the Mix Max, you should be able to get it from most LFS. I saw it at Nature Aquarium. Hope it help.
