Hi .. comment and suggestion please !

i have two tanks .. really simple ones ..i called it Lazy-Bum Series and since it is my first time, forgive me for the terrible scape ! Note, the tanks are located outdoor.

My 2ft tank. using aquatic garden soil and gravel sand for substrate. co2 with 1bps 24/7. rocks, the driftwood in front hv flare moss.lighting are Philip865 36w 9 hours/day. filter are a simple submersible filter and some bio bals inside the substrate.

I call this one "Lazy Garden"

My 4ft tank. using two type of aquatic garden soil and ADA Amozonia II for substrate. co2 with 2bps 24/7. rocks, driftwood hv flaremoss and peacock moss. lightings are Dynamax 55w x 2 tubes 9hours/day. Filter are Jet 3368 canister mechanical filter.

Adding soon : another light with 2x 36 bulbs, UV filter 11w and another canister filter filled with bio-filter medium. DIY chiller still in design status.

I call this one "Bantai Saja". which translated to english means "whatever" .

problem i had with the 4ft tank is cloudy water.

My 4ft planted tank was outside and algae are growing like mad, temp are high up to32c and plants are dying. now i already relocate my planted tank inside. cooler temp and easier to see. i can stare it all day long while sit at the sofa and after while ... snoring .. hahaha

now, the substrates are 100% from ADA Amazonia II. some white sand added and couples of rocks. some plants are doing great but the right at the back are dying. lack of lighting i guess. i just hv 110w for the tank. will add 36w x 2 bulbs next week.

ehh . whats that ? *** ! what is this arr ? and the tank is already a week old but the water still cloudy .. my 2ft tank never did become like this .

i think those bubbles at the surface comes from the substrate. Do a water change.

Are your plugs suspended in mid air? Don't do that, its very dangerous.

    Hi Coldfusionpower-Zam?

A surface skimmer would take care of the floating scum long term. You should take some bunches of cheap plants and just let float over the white sand patch or you'll start getting lots of brown or other nasty algae.

It isn't as bad as you say. You have the road, now start lining it with plants, rocks etc! How and what you line your road will be the difference. Go Zam!

Your two types of substrates are going to be messy when you have e. tenellus unless u trim every 2-3 days.

currently the relocated tank is just pure ADA Amazonia II. maybe next week gonna rescape again and put holland sand at the bottom to give the substrate more height . now look too flat ..

    Hi…
My planted tank water is cloudy .. greenish.. plants are dying … so what i did today , make a trip to local marine shop. bought a surface skimmer, 25kg of holland sand (i dont know why they called this. it just bunches of small pebbles), a few bio-filter elements, water clarifier liquid (small bottle).

since i lazy to do siphon back the ADA Amazonia II that already in there, i just put the holland sand ontop of it. make my life more easier. hahaha . i need plenty of plants tho. this time, i wanna make a jurasic park .

The Dracaena sanderiana on the left hand corner of the tank is a non-aquatic plant.
It maybe able to withstand a considerable period of 'flooding' though.
Here's a list of the non-aquatic plants with pictures for your reference.

It's been a while i last posted my tank pictures .. since the last time, i change and add the fans, plant some more plants, more fishes, shrimps and snail. My biofilter gave up a few days ago so i had to buy another canister filter and install it in series with the current mechanical canister filter. and guess what .. algae already started to grow ! sigh ... anyway, here's the pictures !

    Looking good.

Is that a SAE you have there? Not a good choice if you are having moss as SAEs love to snack on moss.

maybe you can try catching them when the light is off, they usually become lazy.
