i am facing the same problem as you with horn snails...looking for a solution as well
Hi,
As my title suggests, my trapdoor snails and zebra nerite snails are dying slowly one by one.... and are rather inactive as compared to the time they were introduced in my tank... I can't exactly pinpoint the problem..
The trapdoor snails are in a seperate tank with tons of algae with fishes with are totally seperated from them... I got 3 large ones... 1 just died... and when I was remoing it, its body drop out 4 snails... 3 seems to be in whole but not moving... and 1 seems to be still in the womb..
Whereas, the zebra nerite snails are in another tanks with 9 sukura shrimps with tons of shrimplets.... 3 out of 10 zebra nerite has died 1 month after i bought them...
Anyone can help me identify the problem?? It just weird my shrimps are doing way much better than my snails.... And anyone can shed light on what I should do with the baby snails???

You may probably add some solution to rid of algae which lethal to all critters and snails.
We know what you are losing in your tank, but that alone doesnt give us a full picture on what is your normal regime, what you have done, ferts you are using, food you are feeding etc.
Well.. Basically my tanks are mildly planted with moss... with GEX gravel...
Food used is just some normal flakes and sinking pellets harmless that does not contain compounds harmful to invertebrates. (quite confident of that)
No fertilizers are added.
30% change of aged-water (with antichlorine) per week..
That's basically my parameters... the usual I guess... that's why i'm so perplexed shrimps and fishes are doing well and snails supposedly the "pest" are dying
Oh... I don't add anti solution in the water other than water (with antichlorine)..
Psst... Your water is on the alkaline side (>7.2-7.4pH and below 8.2pH) I hope?? =D

Try using Fritz guard or easylife. Usually for me it's some metal in the water, the rest of your stuffs seems in place maybe worth a try.![]()
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
