Best in market - Arctica/Teco, so is the price.
Else you may want to try Hailea.
Hi,
I am thinking of getting a chiller for my 2ft Cube tank but I do not know which brand is the best in the market.
My Criteria for the chiller are:
1) able to cool down my 2 ft cube tank efficiently to 24 degree.
2) power saving. (how much it would add to the monthly electricity bill?)
3) not too noisy.
Please advise
Million Thanks
With regards
Windcharms

To be frank, I am not a chiller user. Price for a Arctica/Teco will be 4-figures.
What I share is what I read, it seems to me that Hailea is better than Resun.
Below is a review of Hailea.

Thanks for the info bro.
Just go for arctica or teco if you can afford. Hailea and resun chiller are budget chiller. In the long run you will spent more on electrical bill and servicing of chiller. Resun and hailea chiller are china made. Teco is also assemble in china for the new model tr10, tr15 & tr 20. For arctica chiller it is the top notch chiller in the market & made in usa. So far no complain on this chiller.
if money is an issue, then all u can go for is either hailea/resun.
Can a 1/20 HP chiller cool a 24" x 20" x 20" tank efficiently or I should get a higher HP chiller?
I am using Arctica DBA-075 to cool my 2 ft cube. Satisfied with performance, noise level and electricity cost.
always get 1 level up hostpower ... advantage is in future if you upgrade than no need to waste $$ getting new chiller, 2nd - it chill faster and the chiller life span longer, 3rd - save your electricity bill.
There are lot thread debate about Artica and Resun or Hailae, please use search function to look into those thread. You can search in Arofanatic forum too. You will get more info, the theory work the same like getting an air con with and without invertor technology.
You pay more on chiller and save monthly bill, or you buy china brand chiller with lot cheaper and use the $$ to pay the bill. Some people do calculation and notice if you buy Artica, the $$ you pay can use for paying more than 8 yrs of electric bill with resun chiller.
Look into your pocket and decide which brand you can afford to buy now, now point getting good chiller than you eat 1 meal per day.![]()
Windcharm, ask yourself this question. If you have the intention to stay in this hobby for a long while, I would suggest you saved up and invest in a quality chiller eg, Arctica or Teco. If you planned for an upgrade in the future to tank up to 4ft, a 1/3hp model is the one to look into. For bigger tank, a compressor chiller is the one to go for.
If you are not serious in this hobby and might give up some time later, a budget chiller is the one to go for. You could just throw it away when you are done with it. I did that with mine when it broke down and killed most of my corals and some fish. I am speaking from experience of using one of the so called china made chiller.
The recommendation to go a model higher is because we are living in the tropical region and we do experience more hot spell in the weather as compared to other region of the world. The extra power available in the chiller compared to the actual model specified for your tank will ensure that the chiller will continue to perform when it is faced with a certain condition that would have overworked the chiller that was specified for your actual tank size.
Also since we are living in the tropical region, the use of TEM chiller is not recommended.
Hope this helps!
